I'm 2,400 PQPs short of reaching 1K for 2021 (and far below the PQF req). I was going to open a United Infinite card and spend 60k to earn 2,500 PQPs, but the fine print at the link below states that "For the 2021 program year, Flex PQP will continue to be applied up to Platinum status, while the card-earned PQP can be applied to 1K status if the Cardmember meets the PQF requirement for 1K."

Is my read correct in that I won't be able to reach 1K with 60k/spend?  Any ideas other than a year-end mileage run?

Worked for me for EWR-LHR roundtrip upgrade from economy to Polaris, requested via Twitter. First leg was upgraded next day, return was upgraded a month later.

Not sure if this is the right thread... but I have about 40K Mileageplus and 130K AA. I'm trying to decide which chunk of miles to use for short haul flight (both would be 35K total). Do I use up the MileagePlus or draw down on the AA. ie which is more valuable to hold onto?

What's the primary airport you fly out of?

We live in New York. Prefer JFK but EWR works too. For Florida we like to fly to FLL, but I have plenty of TrueBlue for that.

Gotcha, yeah as you know both AA and UA have a lot of flights out of JFK/EWR respectively so that element is sort of a non-factor for you. In a vacuum I probably consider AA miles a bit more valuable than UA, but it's not a huge difference. I'd probably go with whichever airlines has more convenient flight times/better on-time performance for the route you're looking at.

I know dan in the past mentioned how he would book reservations for him and his family using his united mileage plus account, then he would separate the booking into individual itinerary as this would increase the upgrade chance (don't remember how though..) can this still be done?

My question is if I book several people under one confirmation number and then some of the people who are flying want to cancel, how can I go about doing the workaround for the united award cancelation (move up date 30+ and then cancel) with part of the reservation?

Also does it raise any flags to just book someone under the reservation that has elite status- so everyone on the reservation will get their benefits (i.e. free luggage etc.) even that person will never show up for the flight.. (paying extra for the "nonflying" elite member to get benefits for everyone..)

THANKS!

Is it possible to book for someone else a flight with my mileage plus account, and receive the miles to my account. And if yes, can i book for him with my privileges (ex. free economy plus, free luggage).

When you go to cancel or change it will ask you which passengers

We’re not big travelers and never fly United but interested in possibly of transferring Chase UR to United for family to fly to Toronto on Air Canada but I currently don’t even see any Air Canada award flights available on Milage Plus.
Am I doing something wrong?  Is it because I don't have status so I don't see all reward options?

Do I need to apply for a United card just for possible expanded award search?
I don't think that's worthwhile since I don't have much use for United generally.
Common sense is not a gift, it is a punishment.
Because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

Is it safe to sell United miles? What are some things to look out for or be concerned about?

Did anybody ticket anything on UA for the last 2 hours? Looks like ticketing is broken, everything has a PURCHASE NOW button after booking, putting all bookings on hold, but when I press PURCHASE it goes to main page. Anybody else?
