All this hyperbole is good for getting the airline to think twice about the next deval (not that they won't do it). If they devalued awards like this and it went over quietly you can be sure there will be more coming sooner rather than later.

It really is strange that they picked someone that has no background in loyalty at all.

That he comes from Comcast makes the intention clear. Question is if Chase can twist their arm here. Anyone have a contact in the right department at Chase?

I'm looking at a one way ticket for 20,900 miles - Basic Economy is $222, Regular $247.  So UA miles are essentially worth one cent.  There is no saver availability so bank points don't help.  Time to get a 2% cash back card and be done with it.

Will all talk about United’s Devaluation. They are now cheaper for the ewr-tlv route a economy saver is now 40k instead of 46k, and business for the past year reg price was 400k and it now ranges from 150k-275k + I see a lot of savers for winter ‘24 which I didn’t see in the past year

My boss is likely traveling to Italy for approximately 10 days. He is not someone who collects CC points/Airline miles. His preference is to fly business or first class on a nonstop flight from New York City, preferably EWR, to any destination in Italy. He will need 5 seats for his trip.

1) What is the most effective way for me to assist him? I have found cash tickets with United priced at around $7,000 or 250,000 miles per ticket.

2) I understand the ethical considerations, but asides for brownie points and utilizing my spare time to learn new skills, are there any ways I can personally benefit from arranging his trip, such as earning points, gaining status, or accumulating miles?

I intend to have an open conversation with my boss regarding my goals, and he is not concerned if my efforts can help him save money.

After 24 hours to cancel for a refund you can try and change the flight to a fully refundable ticket by paying extra then canceling it

In May, I got 1.75cpm towards the annual fee on my Club card.
