agreed.  If you cant admit that its just guessing then you are setting yourself up for failure.  There might be some reasoning behind your guess but still a guess.

"Educated" guess might be a dirty word in yeshivish circles, but however you decide to term it, that's about as good as it can get (unless you're trading on inside information).
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

Day trading is gambling imho.

(Unless you're running some complex high quantity or speed algorithms)

Not that I day trade but the odds of wining are greater than gambling ;)

Anyone have ideas on how to capitalize on Brexit moves?

IMO markets are likely to overshoot one way or the other once the vote is in, regardless of outcome, it will just likely be a different kind of overshoot.

I also think that while there are significant short term negatives to the UK economy from Brexit, they are likely to negotiate free-trade agreements with the EU if indeed the result is to leave the EU, putting the UK in a stronger position long-term, as it can have free-trade with the EU, without Brussels giving them excessive regulations which might put them at a disadvantage.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

That's a separate issue (though I believe he is long gold and gold miners).

That might be an investing thesis or a longer term trading position. I am asking about a short-term trade to capitalize on the movements that are likely to come right after June 23.

Is there any specific book or website which explains the basics to how stocks work and how to trade?
