I've been with Optionshouse for several years. Originally they had a very low commission structure (including for options) and very low margin rates. I am not a heavy trader, but am classified as a professional trader, so they allowed me to use their service with delayed quotes in order to avoid professional data fees.

When they merged with Trademonster they promised grandfathered pricing, which they somewhat kept, except that a short while ago they rescinded on that promise where it comes to margin rates.

Now they announced that they are being bought by E*Trade (which has been around since Compuserve days for those interested in nostalgia), so I don't expect to retain the favorable option trading commissions I've enjoyed.

Looking for suggestions for alternatives.

Placetrade looks very good, but they don't open accounts in NY.

IB would be interesting, but not sure if they will allow me to use their platform with delayed quotes to avoid pro data fees.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

AAPL has got to be a buy at this level.

If you buy at these prices you won't regret it in 6-12 months from now.

Bought in earlier in the day before you posted this. not regretting it yet

Feeling better now?

I would still a buy GM at current numbers

BTW - BP with 6.7 yield and RDS.B with 6.6 are great buys for anyone willing to take a bit risk on oil
Sold some Dec puts on GM today.

Does the market really expect GM to crash from here?

as a rule the safer the stock the less volatile. And vice versa

Good question.

But I think that one word from the Donald at this point can do way more damage to any industry...

Anyone with insights or thoughts on this?

There is no was a drop based on the F report/outlook, but it bounced back since, yet the Dec puts seem to still be commanding a relatively high premium for the risk.
