Anyone thinks XOM stock will be affected with  the  Rex Tillerson news?

IMHO the immediate answer is NO. My reasoning is that this is a high liquidity stock, with a lot of institutional interest. I doubt whether institutions will make any knee jerk decisions based on this.

That being said, with today's HFT, there could be some significant noise based on this news.

I cannot give any stock specific answers. Oil is obviously up nicely today, which pulled up anything related to oil. What will happen in the near short, medium or long term? I don't have an opinion. Past earnings shouldn't make a huge difference on a stock price, except if they exhibit a fundamental change in the company direction, a stock price is all about the future expectations.

I don't know what your entry point is. If you doubled, why not take a "free ride" (sell half of your holdings, so you got your initial investment back, and everything else is gravy).

Also, remember that nobody ever lost money taking a small profit (עאכו"כ if the profit is not small).

I doubt they did this with any company that has huge liquidity, which is why I once before posted about a certain stock that it could be very easily manipulated.
