You're an investor, not a trader. What do you think the next tesla is to invest in?
Who's the up and coming Musk?
Mark B. Speigel. Definitely the next musk.

I see he was a major short of Tesla. That would seem to indicate that he "doesn't get it" 8)

Haven't looked deeply into any companies, but I think an argument can be made that all EV stocks are overpriced, because everyone is desperate to invest in the next Tesla, artificially inflating the stocks.

IMHO that's utter stupidity. To predict the S&P will drop by 50% is idiocy. That has happened twice in my lifetime (and I think 4 times in the last hundred years). Once in 2000-2002 which was a result of a double whammy of 9/11 and the implosion of the .com bubble. The other time was in 2007-2009 which was the greatest collapse of the financial system since the great depression. A drop of that magnitude doesn't happen without a serious systemic risk to the financial system.

As far as TSLA goes yes it is overpriced, can it drop 50% maybe but not likely. What has changed in the last while with tesla is that they went from a company on the verge of financial default a couple of years ago to a company that is growing, making money and holds a leading position in a fast growing industry. Currently noone offers a product that is close to what they are offering. Till that changes they will keep growing.

There are quite a few very good arguments to be made that we're at that point.

Look up John Mauldin's letter from quite a few years ago (pre 2008 IIRC) titled Fingers of Instability.

How much of that run is the result of this happening (or expectations that it would happen)?

Thoughts on veru or xxii? Xxii has a nice business idea that maybe big companies can license once it’s approved. Veru had a crazy day today- can it keep going?

As long as it can't be justified by fundamentals, even with a nice story to go along, it doesn't make a difference. A lot of comparison to Yahoo being added to the S&P500 back in the day.

I think we are agreeing.

What happened to Yahoo stock in the weeks/months after it was added?

The point of the tweet I posted, was that supposedly index investors think they are safe and diversified. When the inclusion of TSLA at what might be a top for TSLA, with an enormous market cap (remember the S&P index is market cap weighted, so it will be heavily tilted towards this one huge bubble in this specific stock), this can have very sad consequences for index investors. I don't think that Yahoo in its heyday of index inclusion had such an impact as the upcoming impact of TSLA.

Thing is, people have been thinking Tesla is at it's top for many months now and meanwhile it has kept blowing past those "tops".

My point isn't that I disagree with your opinion of Tesla being overvalued, rather that we don't really know what will happen with Tesla long term (if you truly believe what you say - go short it or buy put options).

The market can remain irrational longer than you or I can remain solvent.

Don't short "story" stocks.
