Is TSLA making a profit on their vehicles?
Yes.  Even while working full speed ahead on new technology and building Gigante GigaTexas to double thier production they are still producing a profit.
I'm not who you think I am.

Is TSLA making a profit on their vehicles?
30% gross automotive margins last quarter.
Is anyone talking abt Tesla Trucks - with deliveries expected soon I think its big..

Assuming the pepsi CEO didn't confuse dates.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Way riskier than TSLA. They still need to prove the ability to produce it scale and make a profit. Their stated goal of production of 1 million by 2030 is nowhere near enough to justify current valuation. It can just about justify this valuation in 2030 with profitable production of 1 million vehicles.

If you want to get involved in the EV industry other than TSLA, look into LICY. The battery recycling industry will definitely explode over the next decade, but I don't know if they're going to make it. Redwood Materials (not publicly traded) is definitely in a better position. That being said, I'm sure there will be more than 1 player.

Of course comparing revenues of mature companies squeezing their last breaths to new technologies is the ultimate balance comparison. I won’t comment on Rivian valuation nor if it’s responsible to IPO pre sales or finished product BUT the valuation is not in sales here and everyone knows that.
Imagine a VC saying “this company has 0 revenue why would I invest in it ?” Rivian is investing in an idea, now I’m not sure how many people get that but to compare it to some ancient company is useless comparison

Time will tell if they can achieve scale.  But they are taking a page from TSLA's playbook with the mall-based stores.  Was in Short Hills mall in NJ yesterday and saw a Lucid store going up there... TSLA apparently closed their short hills store...

Wanna invest for long term in the EV market, what stocks are good to buy?

Including all aspects of EV not just car makers.

An ETF is the way to go.

History doesn't repeat, but it most definitely rhymes.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/16/lucid-ceo-says-the-company-could-eventually-be-valued-like-tesla.html

"The sky is the limit"

Rhymes so well with the dot.com bubble. Anyone remember Pets.com, Kozmo.com (IIRC that was the predecessor, decades before its time, of Shipt, Instacart, etc.) and more?

Really not a fan. These companies are so overvalued when they haven't even started volume production yet, which almost put Tesla into bankruptcy after already having many years of decent production on the model S & X

The EV sector and the airlines, כשזה קם זה נופל. What's the logic for it? Or the market's no longer follow logic..

This market has the potential to blow up far bigger than the Dotcom bubble when you has profitable companies with revenue but highly overvalued Well today you have companies with huge Valuations and not even a minimum viable product. I don’t know if I don’t know when but just a thought

High valuation Actually gives them the cash to scale production which Tesla did not have due to the huge short positions against it. Overvalued is not the right word it’s speculative value on what you believe these companies can produce… Do they have the right people? Does the total auto market support such high valuation? This and more are the right questions here imo

Lucid and Lucent...

Lucent was actually a real business with real products (spun off from AT&T IIRC)
