Plain Garbage, don't ever solely listen to others for advice,. you should fully understand and be confident in what you invest in.
Fool.com for example will always try to reason and know exactly why a stock went up for a day or went down.
For example check out yahoo finance and look for popular tickers such as nio,
every day a reason why it's up or down.
while the only thing the smartest investors will tell you for sure is if it went up the reason is because there were more buyers than sellers period.
it's just a ploy they use to get clicks and get uneducated investor who has been losing in a stock to get hooked

I agree with you for the most part 100%, except for the "more buyers than sellers." For every buyer in a given transaction there is always a seller (who are they buying from otherwise?). It's really not about how many individual buyers there are. Often the upward price pressure can come mostly from a couple of huge institutional buyers. The question is just one of price- if the stock traded high that means buyers were willing to pay a higher price that day.

You might have just meant that there are more "potential buyers" than "potential sellers." But even then, no trade will happen if their respective prices are too far apart- it's all about how much buyers are willing to pay, not about how many buyers, or buy orders, there are.

SOFI is up today. Still nowhere near the "double by January" that was promised here (which would need it to go above $10, while now it's just about $6.70), but it did jump about 10-15 percent today.

Any insight on if it's worth holding on to it or if I should dump it?

Maybe didn't elaborate but yes, if there are more buyers than sellers at the current price, supply and demand will dictate that the price will go up an so on, and vice versa.

Is Novavax (NVAX) a sell at this point? It had a 9% earning today but i'm not sure that this trend will continue...

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has a drug - dostarlimab - that has previously been approved by the FDA for cancer.  It has now been submitted for review to treat a different type of cancer. The committee report is coming out Tuesday, 2/7, with the FDA recommendation on Thursday 2/9.  It is likely to be approved.
Oncology journals are excited about this drug.  But it hasn't been talked about in the mainstream press.
GSK is about $35.  It is a large company with many products. So even if the drug is approved, it may not make much of a blip in the stock.  Especially with stock analysts ignoring the approval.

Are you buying?

Also, from CDTX, if I donate maaser to CSSY, do I put ckmk47 in the memo?

Considering the size, I wouldn't consider this to be anywhere near as risky as some of the others.

+1
GSK is a large company, so the stock will likely hold its value.
But that's a reason the bump may not materialize at all.

Thanks for the heads up and insight. Will pass on this one but will be looking out for others you post. In the meantime, my LAS play money will be put to good use.

Newbie question here:
On one hand, everyone keeps on saying to ignore the hype and analysts etc. and just look at the numbers, cash, value, etc. of the company; while on the other hand, actual price ups and downs DO depend mainly on the hype.. so which is the correct approach?

Price fluctuates in the short-term based on sentiment and hype. In the long run though, they will reflect the company's inherent value. Hype only matters if you're trying to time the market.

That would terrify me. Don't you need to be short in the stock to have a covered put? And then you're capping off your potential gains while having no protection against downside risk. Covered calls are a lot safer

They've doubled in value
