Short Macy's stock?

No way they saw this coming when they dropped DJT's clothing line a year ago.

That's not that much of an issue for them like the expectations of tariffs. After all, I guess that most of what they sell isn't made in the USA.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Swings are usually more extreme after hours and before open. We might make some of it back over the day.

The banks were supposed to be one of the most negatively affected by a trump win and the opposite has happened. strange

I heard an analysis on Bloomberg this morning, explaining that if bond yields are up (because European banks aren't buying as many treasuries) that bodes well for Bank profitability.

However, I would take all movements in the first week or two with a huge grain of salt. Some of these are knee jerk reactions. I think the real movement starts after December 31.

It seems like we might actually get a Santa Clause rally this year, which is a total surprise to me. Thought it would be bypassed with this election.

Markets were decisively up across the board, clearly signaling that investors are happy with Trump, probably happier than if Hillary was the winner. Which is kinda strange, especially how we saw the markets and futures plummeting around the world when the results were clear.

My theory is that a lot of people were nervous about Trump's effect on the world after all his crazy statements. However after taking some time to digest that it wasn't just fringe lunatics voting for Trump, they realized that the normal people voting for him were obviously not taking Trump words literally like the left has. I've seen many libs backtracking their fear of Trump in online comments. Add in Trumps graceful victory speech and Trump isn't viewed as an extremist apocalyptic candidate like he was yesterday.

Donating stocks to charity allows you to deduct the amount the stock is worth at the time of donation, without declaring as income the capital gains the stock earned during the time you owned it.
Technically how is this done?
The charity has to own a brokerage account, and I fill out the charity transfer form, and they move the stock?
At what moment is the stock 'valued', so I know exactly how much I donated?

Thanks for asking this, I've been wondering the same. Most of the charities that make it easy to do this aren't ones I typically donate to. I'd love to donate in this way to my kids' yeshiva, but no idea how

Berkshire Hathaway is a holding company which includes a lot of financial stocks were are soaring.
Not sure about the rest of the portfolio though.

Thanks. Per Twitter, it has railroad stocks which apparently did well today too.

Some brokerages, including Fidelity will set up a charitable fund in your name to which you can donate the shares and then send money from there.
