A lot of people believe its because Jobs was a Koumpounophobiac. Its a real thing, I have a kid who is one.
I have no reason to believe that is not the case.

I guess I am the exact opposite. I need physical keys/buttons. What's the name for that? I recently switched to a flip phone with a physical keypad, and am at much greater comfort when using it. Unfortunately, it is a piece of junk compared to the iphone. Terrible battery life, terrible sound/call quality - which might cause me to actually give it back and reluctantly go back to the iPhone.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Normal?

Is it normal to have touch screen phobia?

Qh, thats not what i thought you said. No idea what fear of touch screens is called. But its normal to strongly prefer real buttons. They work much better. You dont see anyone begging for their keyboard in the office to be replaced by a tocuhscreen... we only see the value of it when space is a bigger concern

Using a touchscreen?  ;)

One of the worst things Steve Jobs did to society, is make people focus both eyes and two hands on a small device, that literally takes over people's lives.

Where do you get the idea that BABA is an online retailer? IINM their roots are actually in B2B (and I've found suppliers in China after finding them on alibaba.com - through Google search  :)).
Company roots aren't always the growth engine of a stock..
AMZN is definitely a major disrupter, but there's a huge problem when 5 companies represent such a huge percentage of the overall stock market valuation.

Remember, a stock is a claim on the future earnings of a company. How much is it reasonable to pay for a year's earnings? How about if we know (do we have נבואה?) that those earnings will grow at a certain clip? I claim ignorance, I don't know what will happen, but please don't tell me that buying at crazy valuations isn't speculation. AAPL on the other hand, actually pays a dividend (I got some AAPL shares at much lower prices) is sitting on LOTS of cash, and is GENERATING lots of cash. What does the future hold? I don't know. I admire AAPL for the quality of their products, and hate their products (and the move to touchscreens that was started by them).
Again, AMZN is only at a ridiculous valuation right now because Bezos is on a ridiculous spending spree, he can stop that today and polish his EPS significantly.

And I too own a position (actually my largest portfolio position) in AAPL, And I own it since the mid $60s, but if I had to put in new money I'd rather put it in AMZN at this 11% dip.

Any thoughts on VALE?

It's been on a tear last couple of days. Nice ST gain.

Are you referring to the conversion of preferred to ordinary?

I am wondering mostly about stock movement from this point. Had a very nice run in the past 2 months.

Yes. I had VALE on and off a few times over the years and I still get notifications about it (news and prices). I'm not trying to imply that the recent price movement definitely had to do with the outcome of the offering, but it seems like something you should have an opinion about if you're thinking about trading. If it did, that's not a trend.

I don't consider myself a trader.

My entry point in VALE allowed me to capture almost all of the gains of the past 3 months. I bought into what I saw as a value play. Didn't expect this fast of a move up. I was wondering if the move of the last two days is too fast and too far, and might be a time to take money off the table ,or is there something fundamental going on (or possibly some technical analysis that could offer some insight).

Sounds likely to be illegal insider trading

Heard a story this morning denying any wrongdoing. This sounds like a big story to me. If they don't come clean it could mean major damage to the brand.

it definitely is illegal. They already confirmed that this was not one of their automated/time-scheduled preplanned sell outs. Therefore it looks like these trades were based on their advance knowledge.

Considering how seriously the judicial system in this country treats white collar crimes committed by wealthy people, if it is deemed insider trading those executives could find themselves punished with fines in the thousands of dollars.
