this happened only during the great recessision as there was a flight to quality increasing sharply bond prices but that didnt continue later

Dont know about 30 years but since 2009 when 10 yr yield was below 2.5% till now when its 2.9% its not considered a bull market in my opinion.

In 2007 when Buffet made the bet when the 10 yr yield was above 5% till 2009 when it tumbled to 2.5% it was a great bull market but since than........

Bull market in treasuries continued until about a year ago (and up until recent months was rather flat for the past year IINM).

Again, On Jan 1, 2009 the yield was 2.52%, so when on Sep 1, 2017 its 2.20% its not exactly a bull market

How much of a price appreciation is that (in addition to the coupon)?

Just look at a visual and tell me if the bull market in treasuries didn't continue through at least part of 2017.
