Nope. It did happen that there were consecutive years with negative five and ten year returns. How about you show us some numbers to back up your claims.
Here you have all numbers   https://dqydj.com/sp-500-return-calculator/

And this is even by the worst worst worst crisis in this 150 years period (Depression was worse but not over such periods with total returns)

Lol. How about 12.5 year terms without cost averaging? What about 17.856853477 year terms?

That is not what leave for5-10 years means.

Why should I be backing up a claim I never made while you have moved your claim and still shown nothing to back up either your original claim or the new one?

How about you back up your claim or we assume it is as ignorant as the original.

Regarding the method for those who wanna do it lets make it short...
You have a person come in 2018 and say I saved 30-40-50k over the past 2-3-4-5 from 2015-16-17-18 where should I invest it and in 2028 will have positive returns? The answer is (going forward) in 2015 you should of taken the extra $100 every week and invest it and not wait to accumalate a nice chunk and than start searching another few months/years for a good BUY LOW SELL HIGH investment

Go to Fidelity, Charles Schwab, T Rowe Price, Vangaurd and you can set up automatic investments in Index Funds, Its usually called Equity 500 Index fund or something similar Its very easy
And the main thing, Statements go straight in the garbage (you can review it for errors but not for the amounts)
Come back in 10 years from now than look on the  statement and let us know the results  ::)
