Jesse Livermore made and lost fortunes, at the end he suffered from depression and committed suicide with a bullet to the head, the book is full of wisdom and advise that is golden.
The book may be full of golden advice but anyone who follows in the path of Jesse Livermore should be aware that he was a very good gambler, not an investor

Correct, those days were different, bucket shops is where he started trading, he was a speculator or a trader, not an investor, and same for Trader Vic, also a trader, a very good one.

And it's extremely important to make that distinction. I would assume that most people are not traders, nor do they have the personality to become traders.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Well, I often travel to AC on weekends, and when I’m there, I play some options on Robinhood  ;)

I'm new to this thread and actual investing in the market. I've watched a lot of stocks over the last 3 years but haven't put it a dime into anything yet. I'm curious if anyone here has an opinion on Allergan (agn) right now? Seems like a lot of upside with minimal risk.

100% And for investors I think it is better to just buy an index fund that tracks the S&P 500 than invest in individual stocks. With individual stocks you might make more or lose big, on bad earnings, changes in fundamentals, strikes etc.  I was never an investor, I do much better trading short to medium term and works well for me.

Very oversold, just like 90% of stocks, all depends on the overall market, but the stock has been in a strong downtrend since 2015,if you buy here I'll use a stop loss below the most recent low of $125 to limit your losses if you are wrong.

I see the market is having a sale on stocks.

Do you think the sale will be extended and they'll slash prices even more or now's the time to buy?

I think this dip will continue to go down for a bit while the market corrects itself, my best advice is to buy some precious metals now since they will be going up during this dip in the stock market!

I’ll buy some index funds on sale now. I’ll buy more if it goes on sale more.

+1 it’s the way to go to win in this market IMO

The December market downfall has squeezed every last bit of dovishness out of Powell, he’ll only get more hawkish from here, he craves rate hikes, and he’ll find a way to get it, and hawkishness has a bigger downward impact on precious metal vs index funds

Palladium, a PM , more than doubled since the FED started raising rates and is making new all time highs closing above $1300.

Palladium, a PM , more than doubled since the FED started raising rates and is making new all time highs closing above $1300.
Common, Palladium is a total outlier driven entirely by low supply and high demand for car parts, nothing to do with the broader market or interest rates, all other PMs tend to underperform the markets when hawkishness is in the air

And as it relates to Palladium, wait until one of these car manufacturers announces that they’re switching from Palladium to Platinum.. don’t think it’ll reach any new all time highs then, it’s one announcement away from a huge permanent drop, although that might never happen.
