My think or swim app is not working since market open!

Lawsuit!

Wouldn't be the first time... Ameritrade was down a few times for a minute or two in March when a few seconds made all the difference.

HEXO is being delisted from TSX. What did this mean for it on the NYSE?

Anyone here following Portnoy on twitter? Barstool Sports president taking up day trading during corona. Highly entertaining. actually made a few shekels joining on some of his trades.

This environment rhymes with the late 1990s, it's almost indistinguishable. Once it's all on margin, it will be the perfect setup for a dot-com type bubble burst.

And Portnoy responding to someone saying similar things (this too sounds so much like tunes I've heard in the past):

Curious what everyone's thoughts are on DGLY (Digital Ally). They are getting a lot of hype and action because they have just created a subscription program for their body cams for policemen to use. Is anyone else in this stock?
Anyone buy when I said this? They went up 20% today. Still see lots of potential... will prob hold until it hits 10

i think its ridiculous to think that RH accounts are moving the market. RH account size avg 1K to 5K indicating that even 1 million accounts wont have the effect of 1 smaller size institution.
I do buy in to the theory that it can have a marginal effect due to some corps buying the info and frontrunning the trades. However the large companies dont need the info as trade data is automatically fed thru the supercomputers (another topic if its ethical/legal).
on the other hand, once these institutions decide to sell the drop will be quick and RHs will be deep in the red. Even stop losses will be almost useless in this scenario.

They have 6 million active users... let's say even an Average of $500 per account. Still 3 billion. I think your underestimating the numbers

It's not just the RHs. It's people all over of all ages who are not busy at work these days are investigating heavily in the markets. I have a few friends who invested a few 100k now and they are doing it for the first time in their life.

Td has 11 million active users and 1.3 trillion in assets as of 2019. We bull has over 10 mill. I think your not realizing that were talking about 10s of millions of people and trillions of dollars. Of course its gonna have an impact on the market.

You are correct that there is a lot of money out there. however those accounts do not actively trade. Most of those accounts are passive investment accounts with maybe a handful of trades a year. (think IRA accounts). On an avg day institutions make up around 90% of the trade volume.  the low estimate is 70%
therefore the notion that RH accounts (they are active traders) move the market is ridiculous. Once the institutions decide to liquidate a position it can have a devastating effect on the little guy no matter how big the trading platform. Its very important to remember that if you are along term investor fundamentals is still king. however if you are looking for swing trades to make a quick buck then its all about the technicals and you must understand that you are only riding the wave of big firms and when they shut it down because they are not getting paid enough for the risk they are taking the little guy is left holding a huge bag

I have a bunch of friends who felt good about themselves for not just installing Robin hood rather making a TD acct like "real investors "

the advantage was free non commission trade, no minimum to open account, and user friendly mobile app
Now that all brokerages offer free trade you get more with them. they have better trading tools & access to analysis and/or reports and ive personally found that for market order trades they are cheaper/faster than RH

Robinhood is notoriously known for their slow execution speeds.

Whenever Powell talks he brings the markets crashing down. Can he just shut up!
