What’s the easiest way for a n00b who doesn’t have a brokerage account yet to buy puts on Tesla ($1000-1500) with a strike date in 12+ months? And how is there no credit risk that the counter party will go bankrupt if the stock collapses?

What do you think the stock price will be in 12 months?

TSLA puts are very expensive

The 09/17/2021 $1,000 puts are trading at around $100, the $1,500 puts are trading for about $260

For a breakeven of $1500 you would have to buy the $2,000 puts which are trading for $500

On what basis is this stock worth so much? On what basis is the market cap 63bb?

I'll give it to you that people will continue using zoom to a certain extent even after this is all over however most businesses will go back to normal.

To value zoom based on what's going on now doesn't make sense to me.

While you make some very valid points, whenever shorting, remember that the market can be irrational for longer than you or I can remain solvent.

How do you compare tsla to zoom? While people believe tsla is overvalued they still have major potential and they ain't going no where tom.

Zoom on the other hand will be forgotten once this is all over. All schools etc will go back to normal life soon and zoom subscriptions will tank.

And your maximum gain -as in every short position- is only 100%, while this stock in this environment can easily pull a Beyond Meat on you, and you’ll be out a few 100%.

You don’t wanna be short ZM when the inevitable happens, and large corps start releasing their work from home press releases..

Almost 3 months have past.. and Zoom went from a 63bb market cap to a 103bb market cap tomorrow at the open (if todays after hours action holds up, it probably will).. you’d be down 70% on that short position you were so tempted to take... congrats!

Thanks, thought they were cheaper. I'd bet on $500-1000 stock price on 09/17/2021, but a 10x win is probably not enough. Where would I buy those though?

Im not an analyst to determine value but I know not to go against a stock with this momentum and don’t forget this a recent ipo so there isn’t really pre COVID price to look at, once momentum slows down you can start charting where it will head
