Google finance and stock tracker redesign is impressive! Old one was a shame for Google in 2020

Anyone else think the stock market will drop in the immediate aftermath of the election regardless of the outcome?

I don't see a scenario where it will go up.
If Trump wins there will likely be mass protests and some rioting.
If Biden wins (and Trump relinquishes power easily (imo very unlikely)) market will likely go down due to liberals being in power which the market usually believes is bad for business
If its a close election and Trump fights it or it goes to the courts the uncertainty will also cause mass protests, rioting, and I think it will cause the market to crash (at least temporarily).

Thoughts?

and add the fact that the market is now higher then pre Covid, hard to see much upside now, but again, it’s impossible to know.

The stock market doesn't care about protests or riots. Even if every shop in the US is robbed the damage is minuscule. If Trump wins the market will only go up, erasing the current discount for the likelihood that Biden will win. If Biden wins it will probably dip in the beginning because of perceived less business friendly policies (environmental, tax, tort), but will probably go up again once it becomes evident the Ds will pass ever larger stimulus bills. A Biden win with R senate may be the worst case scenario from a stock market perspective

Ultimately, regardless of who wins, bailouts and stimulus money are coming. Companies will cash in no matter how badly they've been performing or what the public thinks of their future. And the market will keep climbing until something fundamental breaks.

New prediction- if the election can't be called for 2 days because several swing states still haven't finished counting their votes, the markets will shoot up because of the possibility that Powell will announce no change to the Fed short term rate.

What about the possibility we now will have another LARGE stimulus package?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Do you really believe a large stimulus can be passed by the current government? I think we'd have to wait for the new congress to be seated. In which case we're talking about January as the earliest possible date for a first vote.

I don't think anything is impossible with a lame duck Trump. I believe McConnell is pushing for a bill before Biden goes into office.

The R's will want to give Trump credit. The R's with Biden can't keep a massive bill from passing. Some R's will vote for it with 100% of the D's.
