I opened an e*trade account on June 28 and put in $72. It's not 4 months later - to the day - and my net account value just reached $144, double my investment.

Beautiful.

I had an old HSA account with under $60 left in it before I rolled it over to Fidelity. It's has tripled by now. I can tell you that this is NOT scalable. I would never take similar risks with my ROTH IRA (though if one were to carefully analyze the moves I made, they were probably not too risky, just lacked diversification).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I can't believe they have market cap almost as much as NIO, when NIO delivered 100s of 1,000s cars. I'm a big NIO guy unfortunately.

Why unfortunately? I think NIO is a great company that has already proven themselves

+1.

I would never do it with serious money. Just like I may buy a scratch off lottery once in a while, but would never see it as a real investment. I just feel like a played a fun game and won.

TSLA didn't perform for a few years. If you believe in the company use this time to build your position and hold long term

Active trading. Most of the money I made was from buying the type of stock I mentioned earlier today - like RFL - where the stock was worth a lot of money for an extended period and then dropped drastically. I have missed, but there usually is at least some rebound.

One example: ATER, was $47 in Feb, dropped drastically. I bought in at $5.48 on 8/9, it dropped till $3.11 before it started to rebound. Sold 9/13 for $17.20. (It subsequently dropped again, now at $6.85. And I bought some more recently, hoping it will go up again.)

Another example: ALLO, was between $21 and $39 for a year, then suddenly dropped to $13 after a test was put on hold. I bought at $13.77 on 10/11, and sold for $16.35 on 10/26.

Anyone following META? Seems to be a lot of confusion buying, thinking that it is the new name of Facebook.

Stock was up sharply AH today on heavy volume. Maybe a short term play for tomorrow....

So it could be confusion as you are speculating or it could be real, MMAT has ground breaking technology where you can companies like Facebook wanting to partner with them on those.
Non the less even if it just a confusion, you can see retailers being excited to attempt a "short squeeze" based on the confusion as it is a heavily shorted stock.

FB is not a particularly popular retail stock, The b people buying it are not confused they know what's happening.
The idea is it's it's something fresh, so investors are putting in some money. I don't see how they will actually increase revenue or profits from this change, but sometimes you just need some headlines to push a good company up.

Nice! I did a quick in/out with ALLO too at about the same prices, though I usually prefer stocks that I can hold for longer. Was thinking of re-entering it when the price dipped again but it didn't get low enough yet. My target is $10-$12 (unless there's a break in the radio silence) and it hasn't sunk back below $15.
