Any thoughts on RIVN? IPO on 11/10 @ $78 a share, closed day 1 appx $100 rose to $178 and now down to about $115. Might get a bounce here
As they say with slot machines,   because it hit once doesn't mean it's going to hit again.

At this point these new IPO's are turning into meme stocks.  Obviously the value didn't jump 100% and a week later they decided its not worth that.   It's robinhood "investors" randomly moving stock prices with no real reason.

DARE - Dare Bioscience has a drug that will likely be approved Dec 7.
The stock closed at $1.64 today. Not a company to necessarily hold long term.

How do I avoid paying capital gains tax if you keep on selling your stocks?

I dont know what the rules are now, but when I did this I had my accountant elect to treat me as a day trader and my trades as ordinary income. All your positions are marked to market, which made no practical difference because there were no intrinsic gains in my positions that were affected by that election. It must be made in the tax year that you will be claiming to be a day trader. so if you want your 2021 trades to be treated as ordinary income (loss) then you must make the election in 2021. There is an IRS form for it.

Simple trick is to buy high and sell low.

Worth mentioning- although many here did nicely on the CCXI trade (credit @ckmk47) , not every time a bio company gets approval for a new drug does the stock go up. Case in point, TAK  (Takeda pharma) today.

I'm no expert in this, but a case can be made that the orphan status of the CCXI approval improved the potential profits of the drug. This is not necessarily the case with DARE.

Agreed.  This new drug is an antibacterial vaginal cream.  And there are other drugs available. But this one is a one dose regimen, so it's got a clinical advantage.
I would caution that although CCXI has risen since it's FDA approval, that isn't necessarily the usual pattern.
There's a spike of buying at the market's open the day after approval. That's when I sell out.

Major black Friday sale... Is this a reasonable drop or just hysteria of the new variant? Anybody buying the dip, airlines in particular?

I am probably the worst at timing.

Sitting on some nice gains in Oil related stocks, I bought some Dec XLE puts a while ago to protect my gains, while those puts are up 300% today, they are still below my purchase price (and while I saw some substantial drops in my oil patch holdings, still sitting on some nice gains, and actually rebounded a bit from the worst prices seen today).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Don't have, but wish I did. Jumped yesterday, and it's up 50 percent in premarket.

Been watching NRXP and RLTLF for some time but have not bought. Both have been faring quite poorly despite seemingly positive news over their lawsuit and development. The pop due to the new Covid variant is not surprising, but I still find it hard to be excited about these having any lasting power
