Very true but it took 4 years from the "irrational exuberance" speech before the market crashed and anyone who pulled out then missed out on a phenomenal! market.
How about those that didn't in the two years of downturn and 12 years of recovery? Ask them if they missed out?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

They would still be better off  than someone who missed the whole thing.

Actually not. Some spent those profits by borrowing against them and couldn't pay them back. Also we are not talking at this point about missing the whole thing. That horse has left the barn.

Either way lets getting back to picking stocks in up market, so everyone looks like a genius.  :)

I’m a newbie and bought teledoc and affirm a few months. They both went down and I’m not sure if I should just hold on to it. Any ideas?
Why did you buy? Unless there was a strong belief in the companies, sell and invest in something else that will hopefully give a decent return by the time these rebound.

My statement remains even if the money was only invested after Greenspan already spoke about irrational exuberance. But I agree that to borrow against it is foolhardy. Also, once you deal with individual stocks it is a whole different story.

thinking of investing in an S&P 500 type of account. is now a good time or did it go up too much recently and therefore rather wait for a correction?

Probably best off doing dollar cost averaging.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I believed in the company but now I lost about $700 not sure if I’ll lose more. I’m fine waiting it out if it will make a come back?

Can anyone tell me how to open a Roth IRA in which I can actively trade stocks?

I want to sell off my e-trade portfolio (which is under my personal SSN) and instead trade with a Roth IRA. Which company allows that?
