So make fractional options contracts

When that happens (and standardized), stock splits will likely be a thing of the past. Look st the popularity of emini contracts.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

FDA meeting in mid June.
My doctor friend isn't as sure of this one as he was of the last one. But his reasoning sounds solid to me.
Any update on meeting date?

Data shows bluebird bio's blood disorder therapy effective - FDA staff
BY Reuters
— 8:53 AM ET 06/07/2022
June 7 (Reuters) - Bluebird bio's blood disorder treatment demonstrates "clinically meaningful" benefit in patients, staff reviewers at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in briefing documents published on Tuesday.

The company has applied for approval of beti-cel as a one-time gene therapy for the treatment of Beta-thalassemia patients dependent on blood transfusions.

Data provided in the application supports the effectiveness of beti-cel for treatment of these patients, the FDA staff said https://www.fda.gov/media/159009/download.

The reviewers also published documents https://www.fda.gov/media/159010/download for bluebird's other gene therapy, eli-cel, for treatment of a rare neurologic disease called cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy (CALD) in patients below 18 years.

Agency reviewers said it was unclear whether eli-cel's efficacy is non-inferior to stem cell transplants, which are currently the only treatment available for CALD patients.

A panel of FDA's outside experts is scheduled to discuss approval of eli-cel and beti-cel later this week.

The meeting marks a defining moment for the gene therapy field, as it is the first time the Cellular, Tissue, and Gene Therapies Advisory Committee has met since 2017. The panel had then recommended approval for Spark Therapeutics' Luxturna, the first gene therapy to be approved in the United States. The committee gives some preliminary guidance 2 days before the meeting.
The meeting is Thursday, so probably no trading on Thursday. As reported by incendia, it looks good for them to approve the drug.
I've done best when I sell out at market's opening the next day, Friday. The price spikes and then drops back a bit.

BLUE is closed for trading tomorrow also.

When it goes back on market on Monday, should I sell, or should I wait for actual approvals later this year?

Quote
The FDA is expected to make a decision on beti-cel by Aug. 19 and eli-cel by Sept. 16.

The FDA drug approval process:
An analysis is done of the drug trials and other information. A Staff Report is prepared with their results and recommendations, and released 2 days before the meeting of the Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee meets to discuss the drug. They aren’t bound by the recommendation of the Staff Report, but often will vote the same way.
Eventually the FDA will announce their ruling.

BLUE has 2 drugs up for approval. The Staff Report came out on Tuesday. Each drug is being given a hearing day. So there’s no trading of BLUE on both Thurs and Fri.
Thursday’s drug was the weaker of the two (in my friend’s opinion) and the advisory committee recommended it 15 to 0!  ( Only 10 kids a year will need it and it may eventually cause cancer in the patient, but without it the kid has neurological problems and dies by 11 yo or so. )
Friday’s drug is for thalassemia, also a rare disease.  It seems to have cured it in some of the trial patients. And didn’t kill any of them!
The FDA will meet in Friday for their final ruling on these drugs.

My play, and I could be wrong.
A)I hope there’s enough excitement for BLUE that it will pop. I expect to sell out at the opening on Monday. It is unlikely to go higher that the initial excitement.

B)Because these are drugs for rare diseases, the FDA will give the company a certificate that it will fast track approval of a future drug. Such certificates have sold for $100 million.
BUT, this company isn’t in the financial position to produce and market these drugs.
So it will likely be bought out by a company able to produce these drugs that has it’s own drugs in the pipeline that it would be able to use the fast track certificates.
So, after I sell out, I’ll keep an eye on BLUE and possibly buy it back at a lower price than the pop and wait for the buyout.

The pop is usually after the Advisory Committee meeting.  The final approval is expected, so if anything it's a gradual rise.

Or they can contract with one
