Something that is going up will continue to go up unless something changes (newton’s law) yes there might be a temp pullback due to people taking their gains but it will likely continue in the direction it’s going unless it’s target market changes. My 2 cents
I respectfully do not agree with that philosiphy, if that were the case every stock would be ever-higher unless the target market changes? Many stocks even out or change from growth stocks into something else. NVDA is being traded as a growth stock. If people's prespective change there could be a big reality check as the price corrects, I dont think any big losses would be realized over the long term but I'm not sure about any signifaicant gains in the nest 2-3 years.
So if you meant to stay that a good company which has a good product that stays relevant will continue to gain, I agree, but my question was at what rate, and if I would not be better off investing somewhere else.

Is there any benefit to rolling a position vs. selling the old position and buying a new position?

Maybe I misunderstood the question. What does "rolling a position" mean?

My assumption was that it referred to exchanging an options contract for a nearly identical one with a later expiry. That is commonly referred to as "rolling". It is exactly identical to selling the old position and buying a new one in every way (aside for the convenience of doing so on a single order form instead of 2 tickets)

news on SGTX today the stock was up 440% today

Lilly will commence a tender offer to acquire all outstanding shares of Sigilon for a purchase price of $14.92 per share in cash (an aggregate of approximately $34.6 million) payable at closing, plus one non-tradeable contingent value right ("CVR") per share that entitles the holder to receive up to an additional $111.64 per share in cash, for a total potential consideration of up to $126.56 per share in cash without interest (an aggregate of up to approximately $309.6 million excluding shares held by Lilly).

The stock closed today at 21.15 so you are paying $6.25 for the right to receive up to $111.64 if the drug gets approved and turns into a blockbuster. Anyone with any knowledge or insight about this drug? If lilly did the buyout they obviously feel there is potential.

Does the casino post odds? At 18:1 the casino is only making a tiny margin... it's probably a 20:1 shot or longer

I'm not saying to invest based on Lilly's decisions, but companies don't invest for fun.

Big pharma needs a pipeline to survive, as drugs go off patent. That is the reason they buy these kinds of companies. They are fully aware that not everything in the pipeline will end up being approved.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Just like VC knows that not every startup they invest in will survive. The model is for the ones that make it to provide enough to cover for the ones that don't.

Correct, my point is that they don't throw around "play money."

Also I didn't look into it, but has it been approved by the FTC?

I use Schwab … 9 years (and MS but it’s not my “trading account” just long term holds).  I transferred an IRA to Schwab last week and spoke with my rep and he indicated they’re upgrading their trading platform soon due to the merger with TD.  He seemed excited about it and said I’d really like it.  (I’m an active trader …mostly options while also a long term investor).  Haven’t experience the TD platform …sounds like it’s a lot better than Schwab so excited for the rollout.

TD bought Think and Swim several years ago. It's considered one of the best trading platforms out there.

My rep mentioned think or swim. Not familiar with it so there must be some functionality they’re incorporating from that platform for him to have mentioned.  Good to know! Looking forward to the rollout.
