I see the award for coach says X0 does that mean that there is no way that this flight will have saver awards?
If it doesn't how about the point that there are almost no paid economy tickets left?

X0 means it currently doesn't have saver awards. Doesn't tell you what will happen

I thought so but what about the point that there are basically no seats left in economy?

If you see a flight has no award seats whether you just simply looked it up as an award search or you checked it out in expert mode, is there a point of checking expert mode as the flight gets closer or could you just do a regular award search to see if anything opened up?

I don't see the benefit of expert mode in this case. Am I missing something?

If they're only selling very expensive fares (Y/B) then it probably won't open for miles.
If they're selling lower fares then there's better odds.

Thanks, so that means it's still worth checking up on if they have the discounted fares now. They do have C, D, Z, and P right now, so I can keep hoping. :)

Just curious - how does pricing work for paid tickets? Besides for those fares, there are also J seats. How could someone search UA.com and be presented with a C fare instead of the J fare? i.e. Why would UA every show someone the C fare, when they still have J fare they want to sell?

You can search UA.com for any specific fare class but by default you'll get the cheapest.

In 2007 I figured out then when I searched for an H coach fare and used a discount cert that it would glitch and bump me into a D business class fare.

And thus was born my first BF flight.  Have the video doing it recorded somewhere. Fun times.

If they're only selling Y/B odds are the flight is sold out

Not using this flight, but trying to make sense of Expert Mode...

5/24 has what looks like 1 LH F seat on EWR-FRA when searching for Saver award travel. But, when searching for price and looking at Expert Mode, these are the codes I get:

Seemingly no award space. Any ideas?

That's funny. I've been checking out Expert Mode for LH flights for a few days now, and that's not going to help me at all, is it?
Wow.
So, no way to kind of predict how availability will look? Just keep checking?

No, that's an accurate representation of the load on flight UA8838, operated by LH (LH 403).

If you're looking for more than 1 seat on that flight, I wouldn't hold my breath. Even 1 seat with F4 A4 is iffy.

P.S. You realize that flight is on shabbas?
