Basic Help
« on: September 25, 2012, 12:33:53 PM »
Hi! I am pretty sure the Chase Freedom is what I want, but I just want to outline my basic needs here so you can confirm if that's correct or suggest an alternative.

I already have the AmEx cash back card, but I want to have a MC/Visa for those times that the store doesn't accept AmEx (not that many, but I still need it to work all over).
Ideally, only cash back. I don't need miles or any other "rewards" incentives - Cash works best for me.
It would be used as a backup card, but if I needed to spend $500 within first month or two, I could do that so that I get my initiating reward
No annual fee
No link to any personal checking account.

IS Chase Freedom going to be my best option?

There are plenty of cards that would fit your needs. Looking at 1% cash back. Freedom is a good choice. Plenty of discover cards as well if you are interesting

Prefer Visa or MasterCard. I have a Discover backup, and an AmEx for regular use.

The freedom is fine. Would be more valuable if you had a checking account

Cap1 Journey is 1.25% cashback if you pay on time.
