How do you keep your aravos and hadasim fresh over Sukot?
« on: September 27, 2012, 05:44:28 PM »
The Etrog merchant I bought my set from suggested I keep my hadasim and aravot in the fridge. However, my wife needs the space and complains they get in her way. Any one have any other ideas how to keep them fresh over Sukot?

Is a wet towel considered kovush? Would it matter if you use it the same time every day (so it wouldn't sit there for 24 hours)? (over Shabbos would still be an issue)

I remember hearing it from a Rov a while ago.
It was davkah about soaking (not wrapped in a wet towel) and he mentioned it specifically with regards to shabbos where it for sure wont be removed/used for 24+ hrs.

Something soaked for 24hrs is considered cooked.

Something soaked for 24hrs is considered cooked.

Does this apply to simply placing hadasim and aravot in water as one would do to a flowers? Meaning not totally soaking in water?

There needs to be a "pool" of liquid to be considered kovush. If there is a hefsek within the 24 hours, the clock restarts.
