I asked him if I am allowed to email another American-Israeli currently in America, and he told me I can't, because that is like it's "leaving the room". It would stand to reason that posting on DDF falls under the same heading.

This sugya contains a vast quantity of details and variables that most people don't even know about it, which is why everyone must ask their individual rabbi. You can't even rely on what your friend or next door neighbor heard from his rabbi, as every situation is unique.
