NY/NJ area weekend
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:15:00 PM »
I'm looking to go to a NY/NJ/CT area hotel for a weekend with a few families in a few weeks from now, probably the weekend of May 15th. Can anyone suggest a decent hotel that is within walking distance of a shul? Preferably one that would have a pool if we wanted to swim fri/sun and also a nice area to sit outside on shabbos.

 Newport,RI  Touro Syn

The old Sheraton in Stamford is apx 1 mile from Agudath Shalom

Brookline ,Mass  Courtyard or Holiday Inn, YI & a couple of Rebbes are very nearby

Philly Sheraton Soceity Hill in the historic area and theres a Shul a few blocks away Sefradi Mikveh Isarel (never was inside not sure the type of Minyan if SS or not)

I assumed you werent instead in being in Manhatten.

Correct I'm not interested in Manhattan, but RI and Mass are 3 and 4 hour drives. We're looking for something under 2 hours from Brooklyn and LI as some of us will be working Friday. Stamford Plaza was brought up but we're looking for other options. Anything else?

the Philly option I included on the other post, just dont know the story with Mikveh

 there really arent that many.

theres a couple of Hotels on the 59 outside of Monsey but dont think thats what youre gunning for

maybe Waterbury,CT never was there I know thers a Yeshiva just dont know how far from the Hotels at the exits on the hway, get the addresses of both and do a mapquest

The Philly option actually sounds decent, and it's in an interesting area. Would have to find out about the shul though. And the drive is a little longer than we wanted. Thanks for the ideas I'll continue my research. This is much more difficult than I thought...

Check priceline for the Hyatt in Morristown. It seems to be a popular choice. Theres a shul called Cong Ahavas Yisroel which is half a mile from there. im pretty sure u can get rooms for around 35 dollars a night!!

Hi Kishke.
I did a search and the only Wilshire Grand Hotel I see is in West Orange, not in Long Branch. Is that the one you are referring too?
