Hawaii would be the option for you. Italy will not be cheap.

Thank you!! Now I got to start reading up, and generating points. I hope to do a TR (I can start with the adrenalin rush to book the tickets to HKG, then the hour on the phone with Priceline to cancel them...).

Generating points for HI will be a lot easier to do and will also be much cheaper to fly in J than to Italy.

Was thinking that as well.
Thinking to go in J via AA. don't know about return yet. I might have a problem with shabbos there, so thinking to go LAX for shabbos, and drive to the GC

You will need to do some research, but a quick tip is to use SQ miles to fly on UA.  Dan has posts all about this. There are other mileage currencies you can use to save with.

Not only is SQ the best to use for EWR-HNL for example but every points program out there (MR, UR, SPG & TYP) all transfer into SQ.

SQ is 30k a way in J. Nonstop EWR-HNL (no close in booking fees)

Costs less miles and transferable from 4 different points programs. Plus low change/cancel fees. And no close-in fee.

UA is the only lie flat option NYC-HNL direct (besides the seasonal DL flight) and cannot be booked with AA.

Although with the exchange rate right now, Italy won't be as expensive as it can be in the future. However, if the point is to go with the cheaper option, then Hawaii wins.

ygygold - keep in mind that points can be used for your stay also. No need to spend cash on hotels if you don't want to.

I know. But I'm not so big in the miles churning game, so I wouldn't wanna use all my miles in one trip.
Or should I, so I'll have to get in the game

Need some help here.
Going to be in London for a wedding in August and have 3 extra days to spend with 2 kids (ages 3 & 5). Dont mind traveling (flying/driving/public trans) a few hours to anywhere in europe. Where would be a good place to go and maximize the time off with the family? Scotland, paris, dublin, gibraltar?
Any help would be appreciated...

English countryside. If they like petting zoos they will LOVE it! Wales, Exeter etc.
