Looking for a good vacation idea for family for 10 days in August...

Kids are 10-5-1

Parameters:

Need somewhere with max 4-5 hour flight of ORD
not too hot
Kosher restaurants
Prefer spg high end property but Hyatt ok too
Beach always a plus but not m'akev
Things to do for family such as amusement parks, stroller friendly parks etc.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated

Thanks !

Pretty much you've just described Miami Beach FL, well, maybe not the " not to hot" part...

not too hot
Exactly why I said LA and not MIA.
Plus LA has more amusement parks and better SPG and Hyatt options.

And ten days in Miami sounds like overkill (unless you spend tons of time at the beach). Can do LA and SD in that time (and SW flies direct to SD)

Only reason I didn't mention that was I'm not aware of amusement parks there.
Also 10 days would be beyond overkill there. And it may be too cool/rainy for the beach.
Plus there are just a couple good kosher restaurants.

Otherwise it's awesome, see my TR and you can definitely hit up Whistler and Victoria in that timeframe.

I don't do southwest unless I am really in a pinch... But I suppose an LA San Diego trip not a terrible idea... Although it seems like san Diego food situation pretty lousy.

I hear ya... Can it be combined with Seattle or still overkill between the 2 ?

i dont think DC really has anything for kids

Smithsonian Air & Space? FBI Museum? Spy Museum? Newseum (which I highly recommend for all ages!)
I lived in Silver Spring for 3 years.  Heard my friends taking their kids there all the time.

Based on my research ten days wouldn't be crazy. Three in Vancouver, two in whistler, four on Vancouver island (including travel)
And definitely not if you include Seattle.
But again likely no beach and no amusement parks and not do many restaurants
With kids that age la-sd seems to make more sense

Why is everyone suggesting that 10 days in LA is less boring then any other destinations ?

Probably assuming la+sd or assuming 2-3 days in Disney. Knotts berry farms and some other amusement parks

+1.
LA/SD or LA/SF is perfect for 10 days with a few going to amusement parks and a few for beaches, etc.

Hey guys. Looking for a vacation idea.  Somewhere fairly easy to get to, quiet and with beautiful scenery.
Somewhere like Napa Valley.
I don't mind having to drive a bit to get to the destination while landing but don't want to have to do a lot of driving once I'm there hence ruling out most national parks.

Any ideas?
