I'm dying to go there
Especially now that I learned that it's only 40k miles on BA to get there

If you were there can you post a TR?

Arosa or Davos (Switzerland)?

Flights - into Calgary and out of Edmonton, 25k United from EWR, 1 stopover
We spent 3 days in Banff and surrounding areas, like Lake Louise and Morraine Lake. We went whitewater rafting one day which was amazing. We stayed in Canmore since it was cheaper than Banff.
We spent Shabbos in Calgary. We contacted the hachnosas orchim committee who placed us for Shabbos and arranged our meals. We met a lot of really great people and this was one of the highlights of our trip!
On Sunday, we drove the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. One of the members in the shul in Calgary gave us a list of recommended stops which was very helpful. We did the popular glacier tour - very cool!
Monday- Jasper
Tuesday - We drove to Edmonton to visit the West Edmonton Mall (we were a group of 3 girls!). We had free tickets to all the attractions, courtesy of a high school classmate who now lives in Edmonton - indoor water park, amusement park, bowling, mini golf, ropes course- and we had a blast! There are 2 Kosher places - a milchig restaurant in the mall and a bakery called Bliss.
A car is practically a must.

A vehicle in the Canadian Rockies is definitely a must! You see a lot of RVs- campers on the road!

Looking for ideas of where to go this summer (July), preferably someplace that I can attach at the end of a TLV-NYC mileage ticket, so the flights will be basically free. Was thinking of Buenos Aires after Dan mentioned it was the dulce de leche capital of the world. :P Oh, and Iguassu Falls would be cool. The thing is, my wife likes vacations that are more like nice weather, beach/resort oriented places. She would do EZE if the weather was decent. But according to some research I've done, the weather forecast for EZE in July averages around 58 F - hardly ideal swimming weather. Is there any accuracy to that? Do any of the hotels there have decent indoor pools? Maybe we can still make a go of it...

Looking for an alternative, I started looking at options like LA, Hawaii, etc. We would really love to go to Kauai, since that's the ultimate nice-weather paradise, but the availability for our dates is not good. Seems like our next best choice is either Maui or Honolulu. Which one do you guys recommend? Or should we go someplace like Cancun/Aruba/whatever, and save Hawaii for Pesach time? Or is EZE doable, even in light of what I wrote above?

PH EZE has a massive indoor pool.
Plus you can add in Rio and Iguazu if you'd like where the weather will be much warmer.

As far as LIH there are nonstops you can book on Hawaiian from HNL or OGG that are relatively inexpensive.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

+1 very cheap usually.

I'd suggest Saint Martin over Aruba.

The issue is not flights - the issue is the GHK is not available when I want it. :(

I will not make a n00b mistake. I will not make a n00b mistake. I will not... ARRRRGH!

Are these places driveable from EZE? Or do we have to fly? (Please don't kill me for not looking it up myself...)

So what's the best way to get around? Avios?

Thanks! :D

I thought maybe I was gonna get automagically inducted into some kind of secret "5k high club", but instead, all I got was a lousy "Lifetime" added to my DDF Presidential Platinum Elite status. Meh, I requalify all the time anyway. :P

Oh, and another star is nice. :)

Yeah, according to gcmap.com, like 600-700 miles at least. :( So... options currently on the table (a combination of all three, or only 1 or 2): Buenos Aires, Iguassu, Rio De Janerio.

1) What's the best way to travel between these places - Avios? Or something else?

2) Which of these places should I do, and - if more than one - in what order? Ideal time constraint is basically a week (Sun-Thurs), though we can try to do a weekend also if it really makes a difference.

3) I'll be attaching this to the tail end of a UA mileage ticket, so I'll be flying *A, either from NYC or CLE (nonstop strongly preferred). Which is the best airport to fly into, and (if different) which is the best airport to fly back from?

4) Should I be entertaining any other options?

TIA

And now, we're contemplating Costa Rica.

Nothing wrong with evaluating options.

Sun-Thu will be really short for EZE, Iguzu and Rio. It will be tight even for two of them (you'll lose the whole sunday flying (or fly red-eye Sunday night)) leaving you with Mon and Tuesday in EZE Wed and Thu in Iguzu and finding a flight Iguzu-EZE-NYC on Thursday evening. Much better off going on a wed night to Rio, Thu-shabbos in rio. Sunday and Monday in Iguzu. Tue-Thu in EZE.

Costa Rica is a great option if you love outdoorsy stuff.

How about nice pool/beach? SPG options seem rather severely limited there. Guess I'll ask in the CR thread about the Westin... Either way, would you recommend CR as a good "chilling spot"?

I'm not a "chilling" vacation kind of guy (unless I have my own private pool and a BBQ) so I haven't researched that. I think there are places to chill, but everyone I know goes to CR to do outdoorsy things
