I'm planning a trip here and for next month and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this

So far I have
NYC-bkk (spend one day there)
Bkk-usm (about 3 days)

From usm I'd like to go to Melbourne and Sydney . The thing I'm trying to figure out is if I should stop by Bali on way there or skip it and go to Fiji from Aussie.

Also how long do u recommend being in Mel and Sydney

For Fiji I found a nice groupon deal 999 includes flights from Aussie and 4-5 nights in 5 star hotel

Thoughts?

If you end up doing Fiji, this might be interesting.

Looking for an extended weekend getaway. In US. I remember Dan discussing a secret island hotel in the U.S. . Where was that.

Personally, I'd def stop by Bali if you're in that neck of the woods.

Great weather for Bali next month.

Cedar Point Lake Erie was mentioned in a previous post. Is there a nice resort or hotel in the area? I did a google search but am not coming up with anything really nice.

Thinking of doing a quick weekend getaway in August from Thursday night to Sunday night. I'm mostly looking for a nice nature destination within 3-4 hours travel distance from NY with enough activities for Friday and Sunday. Perhaps one of the Caribbean Islands?

I'd like to spend the minimum amount of points needed on this trip, so any lower category hotel would do as long as it gets the job done.

I asked previously about a few day vacation not too far from Brooklyn. Someone recommended Rhode Island. We've been there already though I'm not discarding the idea. Anyway, we have a free night for a Marriot (class 1-4) and I would do a second with points. I have a few questions. Does anyone know if you want to use the free night on a higher level hotel, can you add points? Sorry it's off topic. But back on topic, someone recommended Montauk. Any one know anything about that? It's for just the two of us to take it easy. No need for amusement parks. We're past that point. It would be better if food is available. And minyan. TIA

Maybe look into Tarrytown. Pretty close to Monsey, but quiet area and has some nice tours you can do of some of the old famous mansions in the area (Rockefeller, Sleepy Hollow...)

When thinking nature the Caribbean doesn't particularly jump to mind (I would think of those more in terms of beach/relaxation).

How about VT/NH?

Fair point. I just meant to exclude cities or amusement parks, etc.

NH/VT is a great choice, but we were already there 3 years ago.

I was thinking Grand Canyon, but I won't have enough time to do it properly.

I believe 2 days should be more than enough for the Grand Canyon.

Probably. But traveling from NYC would take close to 10 hours each way without a stop, as the closest commercial airport is a 3-4 hours drive, leaving us with about a day to spend at the canyon. I don't think it's worth the schlep for that.

Someone mentioned we should go to Longbranch if we're looking for a couple days relaxation (free night at Marriot 1-4 property and use points for second night?). There's food nearby, minyan, and very nice area. Any thoughts on that?
