One of the comments that IMHO is spot on:

This has been around since June and it hasn't gotten very much notice. At present, you're just buying a scrip dollar for a real dollar - today no one is giving more than $1 for a Kurrenci dollar.

Bitcoin is more complex, but it has real support and a real community backing it. This doesn't give me the same confidence - and I don't use or trust Bitcoin yet either.

Really, Kurrenci is no more revolutionary than gift cards or gift certificates that can be used at more than one store. Those were called “Chessed Dollars” back in the day when they were issued by frum organizations in exchange for tax receipts. I am sure some people who needed cash sold Chessed Dollars for less than face value, so whoever bought Chessed Dollars that way got currency worth more than a dollar. No chiddush there either.

Kurrenci may be the start of something, but right now buying and holding this currency is putting your money on keren hatzvi. Use it fast if you try it.

I also feel a bit queasy after providing info that can be used to steal my identity if the site is not secure. I don't think for one moment that Hecht or anyone else behind the site would use my data, but the site seems low-budget and vulnerable to hackers.

I happen to need a virtual currency solution desperately and was hoping this would meet my needs. Perhaps they'll be able to do more with this idea in the future, but as it stands now it really won't go anywhere.

I would guess the way they absorb the cc fees is by the fact that we are giving this giving this guy an interest free loan.
I would stay far away from this, this could be a whole scam. Think of it this guy has lots of businesses, he needs cash he opens up this kinda bank with interest free money. If one of his other ventures go bad, who is going to foot the bill? Me and and you my friend. If anyone learnt anything over the past 5 years is that we can't trust anything that's not FDIC insured.

The scam part I hear. But it us definitely not an interest free loan. He's paying 2.5-3.5% for money he'll previously only have for a short time
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I missed that part but that makes it even worse.

FYI- I made a deposit and then requested a refund. The email they sent me said I would get it through a check in the mail, but then I got it on my CC. So its not a new Amazon Payments...

If you would send the money to a diff. account and then withdraw, it would prob. be in the form of a check...

Did anyone try putting money from their account into someone else's account & getting a check? How long did the check take to arrive? What was the amount? Do you know what the limit of how much a check could be issued is?

But what happens when you send to someone else and the recipient cash it out?
