Example?
Just curious if United is ever going to fix this problem. And a better question, how am I supposed to search for award availability if I actually want to know what's available?

if you're talking about LH; you'll have the same problem. EF just pulss their info off ua.com
Looking for first class DTW-TLV December 16. I see availability on the 16, 17, 18, and 20.
What happens when you select the LH F flight on the 16th? Seems to work until the final page for me.
if you try and get them to long sell it may work it has worked for me before
They'll know what long sell means. Ask them to do it for you as it shows it on UA.com but errors out on the last page.
They'll tell you while you're on the phone if the long sell worked. The trick is getting an agent who knows how to do a long sell. HucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHucaHuca

So I won't lose my old ticket? Or should I just try to book it completely separate?
you wont lose ur ticket. JUST CALL
First agent I got said no problem and tried to do a long sell. She came back and said she can't do it for a Lufthansa award ticket. I told her I've done it before. She said she got a big error message in red! Transferring me a supervisor. Let's hope this works.
