Infant fare with no adult?
« on: October 13, 2012, 03:58:19 PM »
Anyone have experience with booking an infant a ticket, with no adult?
For example, I'd book a flight using UA miles, and then call up AC and tell them my flight info, and ask them to add on the infant for their low cost. If so, this would be a great way of saving the typical 10% fee that airlines charge.

Thoughts?

Contact your local TA. but if its business class tickets the infant is still expensive. Sometimes the TA can help.

+1

Sometimes, a TA can get away with booking an infant on a separate (revenue) ticket in economy while you fly business on miles. You pay %10 of the economy fare, and once you're on the plane, no one will stop you from holding your kid on your lap in business.

Base on this post here, http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/20391, the infant fares are fixed for AC.

They charge a flat fee for infants of $50 in coach, $100 in business, and $125 in first.

So could I do it on my own w/o the TA's help?

Try :) just get the infant ticket number and then attach it to your itinerary.

So call up AC, tell them I have a tik booked on UA, here is the e-tik #, please book me an accompanying infant fare? Seems too good to be true if it works.

Call AC and say you want to book an infant on these specific flights (they might not do it as the infant needs accompanied, that's where a TA can try to help) and if it goes then call UA or whoever ticketed the ticket and ask them to add your infant (giving the eticket) to your itin

If I booked the tix themselves, and just needed the TA for this, what type of fee should I expect?

No idea. It prices out in the system. Sometimes it can be a good savings sometimes not. If it works with AC it's great. The prices sound very cheap.

( ill be back in the states on Tuesday, PM me then details of flight and ill try to get you a quote .

I was under the impression that that was for Aeroplan-booked flights, not *A flights booked via UA.
