Their cheapest phone is $100. The first year will cost $220, after that $120. Ring plus will cost $240 a year. Plus the no roaming part can be a killer when out of the city, being as all the options we mentioned (ptel, ringplus, MetroPCS, ect...) are sprint or TMobile, which have terrible service out of urban areas. The at&t/Verizon options are much more practical. Or, of course, republic wireless, which has the free off network roaming.

That looks like an interesting option. It seems to be for pay-as-you go only, so depending in usage, it might not be worth it. There's a $30 unlimited talk option.

Does anybody know if the pre funded sim cards can be activated to use the credit for a monthly plan?

It is a monthly plan. Its the $30 plan (unlimited talk/text w/ 500mb data) with the first month free.

Oops, you're right. I was looking around on eBay and Amazon for different options and saw one as I described, and mixed them up.

This is Verizon, which is the best service in the Catskills. Of course, service anywhere is hit or miss, but your best shot is Verizon. You can probably check out their service map.

I'm looking into doing this. That hotspot is sold out. Will any Verizon hotspot work with Page Plus, or does it need to be unlocked?
