Chutzpah from Chase: I payed 128.94 towards my 128.95 dollar bill, and they gave me a "CREDIT ADJUSTMENT" for the last penny!

Called, and they were delighted to let me know how kind they were by picking up the tab and causing me not to be charged interest. MY attempts in explaining to her that I would have never been charged interest because this was only for the closing statement but not for the due date - which I obviously was prepared to pay in full - went way above her small head and had to be transferred to a supervisor.

The supervisor claimed - and I am sure she is wrong - that there is no reason to leave a balance as the credit bureaus pull you information every 30-60 days and see exactly what is going on regardless of the closing statement balance.

Yes, when it's one penny that does more harm than good I think it's a chutzpah. Couldn't they figure out that there is a reason why I did not pay the last penny. True it's a computer that does it but it's still annoying.

At any rate, can I start paying up my statements minus 99 cents?

if u pay before the statement closes then it should work. But once the statement closes - no you can't pay the balance minus  99¢

To have ur statement reported to the credit bureaus and at the same time not to use a large percentage  of your available credit in order to keep your credit score high
