cathay biz vs first (jfk-yvr- flight cx0889)

i am currently booked jfk-yvr in biz no return flight, not sure if i wanna book in f or not. does anyone have any experience who can tell me the diff bet the first class seats and the biz seats?

The difference is service more than the seat, but if you've never done it I'd recommend paying the extra 12.5k just for the heck of it.

Since your question has been answered, I'll ask one a bit OT:

Anyone know if one can use the XXX-JFK-YVR as AA's free stopover? Or does the JFK-YYY have to be in USA?

Doesn't the free stopover only work to a gateway? Isn't YVR the North-American gateway in this case?

The stopover must be AT  the gateway (JFK), not TO a gateway.

For instance, I'd like to know if I can do HGK-JFK(stop)-YVR.

you can do it but I think the system tries to block it.

HKG-JFK-YVR is not allowed, but only because it exceeds MPM.

Thus, one can fly XXX-JFK-YVR as long as XXX-YVR does not exceed MPM.

Looking for an updated opinions.

I'm trying to book family from CLE - HKT to meet up with us.
My thought is to use AA miles from JFK - HKG - HKT (although I don't see any availability on the HKG - HKT segment). And then add in a free OW somewhere previously.
Currently, only biz class is showing 2+ seats available, while first is showing 1 seat.
I have heard that availability is often opened up prior to the date, but don't want to rely on that as I want to have e/t set for them in advance.

So... is it worth flying CX biz class over a *A itin? Or is their biz class not as special as their first class?
