Go with La Brochette. Similar price, but much better overall experience.
just to make your decision harder, i disagree. the new prime grill is fantastic, both in looks and in food. if u havent eaten there yet, u should.

Um... OU?
Um... is OU a Manhatten based local hechsher?
What does that mean? A Kashrus agency can't be based somewhere else and just have Mashgichim in NYC?
Also,
Of course it can,  I'm just asking because there are so many that have a local hechsher.

Yes, OU is Manhattan based. As to whether it's a 'local' hechsher, you didn't say that in your first comment, and I'm not even sure what you mean by that.

Ok, you're right. My point was in reference to the so many eateries in Manhattan that have local (not internationally recognized certifications like OU, OK etc) hechsherim.
I know there are plenty of others.

And many of them are not widely accepted (or widely not accepted for some).

Need a inexpensive (by standards) dairy restaurant in lower east side. Asap. What are my options?

So I finally ate at mikes bistro, and was pretty unimpressed. Space was nice, but food generally tasted like stuff I could make at home, with a very old world feel. I couldn't eat the gnocchi reminded me too much of my MIL's kreplach, and the short rib was nice, but not better than the usda flanken I regularly cook slow in the chulent. While the space is nice, front area got crowded fast (understandable Sunday night) and though we had reservation had 2 wait 5 minutes at bar. Once there we ordered a hot toddy, and then they said I had to pay up there as they have 2 systems and couldn't combine one bill which was annoying.
Only real bright spot was the tuna tacos, this raw tuna with avocado and chips dish is done at pretty much every good kosher restaurant and this one was as good as any, though a lil less cilantro may have made it perfect. Loved that they had several layers of tuna and lots of chips so u didn't run out. Fries were good crispy fries, but u can get them anywhere and was surprised they brought out with ketchup instead of mayo, that's all the rage these days.
Basically, when I spend 200+ on a birthday dinner I expect something special, but this place just reminded me of best of Yom tov. Also, even though it's a busy Sunday night, gotta have better than industrial brown paper towels at the washing station, and while they at least individually wrap bread (better than RC WHO JUST LEAVES A Wet stack :)), I am still most impressed with PG's little beat bread packets.

I was just there yesterday. Next door there is some bagel shop. Has a hechsher never saw it before. In the Actual place of the former shalom chai there is a three inch later of dust on the interior. If someone is expecting to move in soon, a lot needs to be done. Looked like it hadn't been touched in a loooooong time.
