You can get all those steaks at pomegranate in cook it at home ,if thats the case , but myself its the ambience and dining out the adventure nore then the real value you get , kosher steakhouses is definitely over-rated, dont get me wrong ,im a person that eats out almost daily and dine out in upscale restaurants almost weekly
I never said that the ambiance doesn't add to it. Was just saying that other restaurants don't have the same quality meat. I agree with you. It's all part of the experience.

Agree about ambiance in R/C (I think best in NY), but for me, its much scarier to pay $40+ l/b raw and hope u don't screw it up as opposed to a normal $14.99 USDA choice steak from Costco that will be the same as the Les Marais ribeye steak. Plus not all of us live close to Pom/Prime Butcher Baker etc where u can get good aged steak raw.

Went to the new Cafe Bari location on 39th and 6th. It's a typical fancy French type place. Somewhat pretentious. Had a grilled cheese (gruyere, cheddar, and manchengo. Whatever the heck that is) sandwich ($6 3/5). Was very good but a bit dry and they burned it a drop. Had banana Nutella croissant ($3.25 5/5) and latte ($3.75 1/5).
Food is tiny. I had to hold the croissant in my hand so you can see how tiny it is.
Overall food was good but wouldn't go back. Only wanted to try it due to the fact that it's incredibly close to the office and J2 is so boring by now.

This place is a cafe and not a restaurant. The food they serve here is meant to be paired with a drink, hence "cafe". I didn't find this place any more or less pretentious than any other nice/modern cafe in NYC. It actually reminded me a lot of Petite Shell, although PS is better.

Manchego is a type of cheese, FYI.

I had the Strawberry dulce de leche croissant, which was small, yes, but delicious: https://www.instagram.com/p/BD1wONzqUg9/

We will be spending this Shabbat at Clarion Hotel Park Avenue (BRG; Park Ave and E 29th street) and would like to have Shabbos dinner at a restaurant. We know about Talia's in UWS, but that is kind of a hike. I also see that the Spanish and Port Shul is having community dinner ($50pp). Are there any other/better options?
