Manhattan Kosher Restaurants

I guess i forgot the steak sandwich. I would say 9/10. The filet, or "filet," had a more delicious taste, but the steak sandwich was more filling and came with the fries, which were tasty.

The desserts were a mix. The sorbets were delicious but nothing spectacular. Maybe 8/10. The other dessert was weird. I don't recall what they called it. It had a cake thing and a cookie thing and then had this balsamic vinegar and brown sugar thing. The latter had a weird taste... like vinegar and brown sugar. Not a great way to finish my meal. 2/10.

Overall, it was still an expensive lunch, but it was special and glad we experienced it.

PS. Service was excellent. Really excellent. Totally attentive but not pushy or stuffy. Nice how the maitre d guy came over and pushed chair in for DD. Waitress was Friendly and happy to swipe 5 Amex cards.

That desert screwed me up too, they billed that ball as vanilla bean ice cream bu that wasnt the vanilla bean ice cream i loved at prime grill back in the day, and good call it was vinegary. the chocolate chunk itself was good though if u pushed the rest aside.

Enjoy! no rating on the steak sandwich? be honest, the filet was better right :)?
BTW, the way RC refers to the "Filet Mignon" leaves them open to a pretty good litigation claim, since it aint really that cut. could face both municipality fines and possibly claims from a class action lawyer (i repped a public restaurant chain that took a hit for selling Kani rolls on their menu as "Krab"). but no one listens to me.

I think the other kosher restaurants put "mignon" in quotes to indicate that's it's not exactly as the name but more of a style.

There's another restaurant that calls their meat Prime and I will bet any money it ain't USDA prime.

putting in quotes doesnt work, as noted trying to call mock crab (kani) "krab" was grounds for $1000s in fines...
What i hate the most is places that advertise dry aged steak when it just means they kept the package in the regular fridge for too long (if that), such as Fuego...

when your restaurant puts this on top of its website, u know its Hi-Class!! Talia’s proudly earned the “A” letter grade from the NYC Department of Health.
(i loved talia's back in the day when i wanted fresh onion rings and chicken fingers at 2am on motzei shabbos, but its not the place to pay for a serious steak...)

And what about the places that advertise "wagyu" meat or even worse "Kobe".

I got a "wagyu" prime rib on bone and a standard prime rib on bone was much happier with the standard prime rib

Is Talia's the best (only?) place in NYC to do pre-pay eat-in Shabbos dinners?

Wow! Wish I had known. We have stayed midtown several times and either long-walked to UWS or just made Shabbos in the room. Thanks for the info, shiframeir.

Enjoying our lunch at RC.
Waldorf salad 6/10. Meh.
Yellowstone sushi roll 9.5/10.
Corn soup 9/10.
"Filet" 9/10
Pesto linguine 7/10
Brisket tacos 10+\10

Excuse my ignorance, but what makes a roll of sushi 22 dollars? was it some sort of specialty roll?

Good point! All their rolls were in that range. I guess they charge that much because fools like me will pay for it.

Mocha --looks great. Thanks for the pix and report. The burger looks amazing. The hot dog looks a bit anemic, but we know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, especially so when it comes to our children's tastes.
