So my friend called back to clarify and got this: the old location is going back to non-kosher shortly. The new location is kosher for now but "will eventually go non-kosher as well". Unclear what will happen to the old location if/when that happens.

It's all slightly contradictory and doesn't appear to make much sense, as everyone's noted. But this is the info I have ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Also possible that they're dropping the OK, not kosher entirely.

I know this doesnt mean much but I passed by today and the OK certificate on the new one says valid until 7/31/2017

This will cause lots of confusion having 2 restaurants within a block of each othe with the same name and one is kosher and one is not.

Especially for tourists

It's one thing to give a hechsher on a product of a company that makes both kosher and non-kosher items. It's pretty bad to do that with restaurants.
I have personally witnessed recently someone who accidentally ate a non-kosher item of a company on which most of their products have a hechsher and for most variations of that item.

What kind of item? Did he eat not Kosher, or did he eat something without a hashgacha?

It was chips and that variation didn't have a hashgacha.

Yes
We went to Promenade. Good vibe and good food. Very small menu and they also charge for extras. For instance, anytime we asked for more/different sauces the waitress replied: "I will have to charge you $2.00 extra for that." That was a big turn off and I will therefore not return.

their menu is not small at all. ues they charge for every little thing but there are deals to be had if you get their specials (if that's what you're looking for)

Any current reviews or recommendations for La Brochette?
Need a place for dinner, trying to decide if it's worth it to splurge in Reserve Cut or go for something cheaper.
Been to mikes  and Le Merais already.
