On a scale of Stogel long life to Tabernacle caesar salad, how is it?
Please don't besmirch the name of Stogel with the likes of that $30 plate of lettuce.

Thank you.

I went back today for more and they were closed due to restocking based on overwhelming demand (maybe a lot of people sitting there and tasting all the flavors  ;D)

Doesn't seem like it now, but Seamless has Nui Due Cafe & ND Carne and U Eats has ND Cafe, so I would imagine Seamless will get them soon. They'll have to maximize all channels to make yet another ice cream store profitable. The Cholov Yisroel market is probably tiny.

Why is the market C"Y?
If the product is good then they'll have the largest market in town. If the product isn't good then they'll quickly fail.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I don't eat much ice cream but think there is a lot of competition that's kosher but non CY.

Sure, the CY market is locked in, but that doesn't mean only CY people will eat there if the product is good.
Conversely, CY people also won't eat there if the product isn't good.
But as it is, it should have the largest possible market around, not the smallest.

Of course. My point was that although they have the CY market locked in, it isn't big enough and they'll have to maximize all channels and platforms

In Israel they deliver .5 and 1 kilo ice cream tubs in thick Styrofoam. No melting issues.

Mocha Red:
SMOKY BOULEVARDIER 7/10
GUACAMOLE SERVED TABLESIDE 6/10 - cool presentation though
SALMON + HAMACHI SASHIMI MOSAIC - 3/10, couldn't eat it
POTATO LATKAS WITH BEEF BACON - 8/10 highlight of the evening and has a lot of potential, but needs to be fixed up a little.
CHICKEN + WAFFLE LOLLIPOPS - 8/10 - not my style but others like
Bao Buns were outstanding and unusually authentic. There was a problem with the duck which they acknowledged but the bun was exceptional

STEAMED SHORT RIB DUMPLINGS  ginger-garlic soy sauce - 7/10. Needs some improvement but good dish
“FILET MIGNON” COOKED ON HIMALAYAN PINK SALT STONE TABLESIDE- 5/10 - good presentation though.

SHORT RIB RANGOONS “FRIED WONTONS” sweet chili dipping sauce 9/10
CAULIFLOWER COCONUT CURRY IN DUTCH OVEN - 6/10 - only good if you really want to eat cauliflower...

Chef David from Prime Grill left (now works privately for a friend of mine).

There is a new chef Milan who is eager to please. There should be a new bar bites menu next week and their strategy appears to be constantly changing menus, something NYC really needs. Hopefully it will raise the ante for the competition as well.

Very fast service. Overall it was different and refreshing so would return even though none of the food was really great this time.

Mocha Red:

Bottom line review -- yet another place that makes regret spending $500 at any place other than Barnea.

Apps:

CHICKEN + WAFFLE LOLLIPOPS 19 (fried chicken, gochujang maple glaze, avocado lemon mousse, mini Belgian waffles) -- 8.5/10. Very good, one of the highlights of the evening.
PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SPRING ROLLS 22 (prime rib, vegan cheddar cheese, hot honey) -- 9.25/10. These were excellent. Though I wish the cheese were a bit more melted, this dish with the hot honey was magnifico.
STEAMED SHORT RIB DUMPLINGS 24 (ginger-garlic soy sauce) -- 7.5/10. These were solid, but nothing memorable.
TUNA TARTARE 26 (avocado, shio koji, tastes sesame, nori crackers, seaweed caviar garnish) -- 6.5/10. The fish was OK, though the crackers were very good.
DUCK CONFIT BAO BUNS 27 (ginger miso sauce, pickled ginger vegetables) -- 2/10. This was terrible.
MISO GLAZED CHILEAN SEABASS TACOS (spinach gyoza taco shell, picked ginger vegetables) - 5/10. The fish seemed a bit dry. Nothing momorable.

Mains:

PEPPER CRUSTED DELMONICO 14OZ 72 -- 2.5/10. The worst version of a pepper-crusted steak I've ever had.
SKIRT STEAK 12OZ 72 -- 2.5/10. How do you mess up what is perhaps one of the best cuts of meat? I don't know, but they did it.
BLT MOCHA PRIME SHORT RIB BURGER 45 (house ground + sunny side up, beef bacon, classic burger garnishes, red onion, BBQ sauce, french fries) - 2.5/10. If you're going to charge $45 for a burger, it better be phenomenal. I'm afraid to say that burgers from fast food joints were leagues better. It wasn't cooked correctly, bun was super soggy, and the taste was meh. Fries were very good though.

Oh, and they charge $4 for chimichurri sauce... and another $4 for bordelaise sauce.

Apps came quickly; mains took forever.

And the music is so off-puttingly loud that I would only recommend you take your significant other/spouse there if you *don't* want to hear anything from them.

Tried Noi Due Gelato again today. I think it gets a 9-9.5 now. A bunch of new flavors. Seems like they will be rotating them regularly. And the cone was amazing as well! (Only has the cup last time)
