There should be a new bar bites menu next week and their strategy appears to be constantly changing menus, something NYC really needs. Hopefully it will raise the ante for the competition as well.

Very fast service. Overall it was different and refreshing so would return even though none of the food was really great this time.

Mocha Red:
Chef David from Prime Grill left (now works privately for a friend of mine).
i heard he left before pesach. sad. Separately the prices for lunch there (as well as anywhere downtown) are insane. no more lunch specials, and my regular business lunches have gone up in cost from precovid $100 (including tip) to like $140 or more.
Anyone have a good suggestion for a nice place with a reasonable lunch special (at least an app and a main/sandwich/salad?)

Comparing $29 and $140? Seems like it's worth a try.

Yes, I mentioned it to the chef.

It’s not the chef per se. You’re advocating for restaurants to switch menus regularly, which negates the opportunity of keeping winners on the menu and switching losers out. Perhaps you’re okay with that since you say you’d go back, just be prepared to see the same degree of mediocre/subpar items on upcoming menus.

I don't believe there is any need for it to be so if they actually did their job properly and sampled menu items in advance.

It's astounding how much more non-Kosher restaurants offer for much less $.

Not sure advanced sampling can account for all of the variables the way putting an item on the menu does. They’re also discarding any winners by scrapping entire menus and starting from scratch.

It's astounding how much more non-Kosher restaurants offer for much less $.

Kosher restaurant economics 101. Not a really fair comparison though, because a winning non Kosher restaurant that charges a premium for that is still cheaper than a Kosher equivalent, and it’s a winner from a much bigger pool. So whatever ranking you’re using to equate Kosher vs. non-Kosher, the non-Kosher pool that produced restaurants of that grade is much larger, with more competitors in the mix.

to clarify 140 is all in, but if it’s 34 pp I would likely be around under 100 all in so that’s significant.

My "personal" opinion is that most kosher restaurants have their priorities completely back words, as someone who is extremally passionate about creating food serving others the your wonderful dishes you created its not about the money that pulls you into the game its the passion to make phenomenal food and serve to others, now obv in order to b able to do that you need to charge people but its I want to make food and so I need to charge, and I feel like in the kosher world its i need to make money so i need to make food... I know several restaurant  owners  than other than saying I make the best jerkey understand zilch to high end food all they do is hire a chef put on the same boring dishes as every other place and charge prices that were pulled off the moon.
Now there are deff exceptions (read Rothchild TLV APPS! barnea etc...) and they put in creativity in to the dishes plating, sourcing premium ingredients, service, and so on.
Rant TBC... ;D

I remember reading an article comparing the economics of le marais to a non-kosher equivalent. The main difference was being open on friday night and saturday, not the cost of supplies

I went back today for more and they were closed due to restocking based on overwhelming demand (maybe a lot of people sitting there and tasting all the flavors  ;D)

Pricing is as follows:

DW went to their dairy restaurant the waiter claimed the gelato was from the new place if that's the case i got a score of 2 (rookie score ik) compared to Anita gelatos 9.4 ;D ;D

So again it’s all about who’s the chef that day?
