Pretty much on par with Barnea, Bonito47, etc.

They are the best of what kosher has to offer today, and you're going to pay for that. And plenty do.

I feel the same way about those places, too. I know I'm probably in the minority, but like I said, it doesn't matter to me how people spend their money. I just think we've lost some perspective on what’s reasonable, especially when 'normal' prices keep pushing higher and higher.

Apologies if my previous comments came across as judgmental—that wasn’t my intention.

Vote with your wallet. There's always Le Marais if you want a good value excellent steak dinner.
Personally I love to see the segmenting, as there are some occasions that call for a mid-tier meal and others that call for a top-tier meal.

JJ was scared off of sharing negative IG stories after our G7 fiasco.

But I short...

Waitress saw JJs Indians hat and said Cleveland is so f***ing boring.

I mean, I expected that kind of language in Yankee Stadium, not from my waitress in a high-end restaurant. But we laughed it off and didn't make a big deal of it.

Never got our drinks, which the waitress says was her bad because they were having computer issues. OK.

Most of the food was very good, but there were too many dishes that were not great.

I don't skip many desserts, but this menu is impressively uninspired, so we asked for the check.

The manager comes over and says their computers are down, so they're taking everyone's credit cards and IDs, making a copy of them, and will charge them when up again.

I shrug and am pulling them out, but JJ lawyers up and says we're not giving our IDs to be photocopied and saved along with the stack he's carrying around.

He turns to me and says OK, just give me yours, and I say I defer to my lawyer and hand over just my credit card.

JJ argued with him that an ID isn't required for a credit card transaction, and keeping a copy of an ID certainly isn't required. The manager said that any time a card not present swipe is done that an ID copy is required. JJ asked him when the last time he shopped online or over the phone was? That left him flabbergasted and he walked away with my credit card.

I went to the bathroom and the manager was waiting outside of it for me, saying we can't leave until I give my ID to be photocopied. I said that's not going to happen, and he said then we will need to keep something valuable that you will only be able to reclaim when payment is made.

Uh, this sounds like a you problem, not a me problem. And we're going to leave now.

No, we must copy your ID or we will get the police involved.

OK, do what you want to do, but you can keep my credit card and we are leaving.

On our way out, the manager's manager says all he needs is to see my ID and make sure the name matches. See it? No problem, here it is, it matches the credit card. Have a great day.

The original manager lies and tells his manager that he only asked to see it, not to copy it. Literally as he's still holding copies of other diner's IDs.

The manager asks us to sign the bill. He asks me to sign and then circle one of the 20-25% tip amounts and for the first time in my life, I said I'm not tipping a dime.

The manager's manager all but says that his underling is an idiot and we're free to go.

JJ did get some of this on video, though I haven't watched it yet. But our blood was boiling.

Fun times. Spend $360 on a late lunch for 2 and don't need to go back there again.
I can somewhat relate to ur experience although it didn't go that far although the food was garbage in my opinion their service tho takes the cake i have yet to see a high end restaurant with such terrible service, i had a RC GF (otherwise i would have never gone) that i confirmed with the host before and after making the reservation that i can use it, to shorten the story after arguing for 25min with 3 diff managers they refused to let me use it or let me leave without paying the full amount, i ended up paying and writing on the receipt -$500 gift card and disputed the charge which was accepted by amex

Crazy. Not sure how they stay in business. And open a new location! So nasty.
And so many leagues shy of Tabernacle and Barnea in food, drinks, and service, despite similar pricing.

I was this past week at RC for a private room corporate dinner (non Jewish). Food was decent but not anywhere near other top tier restaurants. I found the servings to also be on the smaller size. However ambiance and service was top notch, and the folks all thought very highly of the place in totality. I would not go there again on my own but it would be on the top of the list for another corporate setting.

Is there a minimum spend for the dessert?

I was gonna joke about going for dessert, but somehow I doubt that’ll fly.

The issue is when mid tiers start to undeservingly inch their pricing close to top tier, and people who don’t frequent some places end up paying more than what they hoped.

Has anyone tried the steak omakase at bonito?
And does everyone at the table have to get it?

Food there is meant to be shared, so I doubt it.

That’s a lot of optional supplements for a pre fixe menu. Looks like a lovely lunch.

Gotta say had my best dinner at tabernacle yet, got the Caesar salad and the lamb belly (pretty special/distinct from som other restaurants), the free dessert package thanks to DD definitely helped really enjoyed and was filled without too much (colleagues had ribs, ribeye and green beans and enjoyed them all).
