Such a shame. Article indicates they're planning on finding a new location:

"it seems the venting at the site just did not work — and neighbors were complaining. “We are so sorry for the disappointment!” their rep wrote. “But not to worry, we will be back open soon at a new spot in Manhattan" "

Having gone there, not surprised that location didn't work.

Same, hopefully they'll get a much bigger place of their own soon
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

I've been there a few times. It's a Japanese restaurant/ steakhouse. You can see the menu here. It's not in the Hub/heart of Brooklyn so it's usually quieter.

Dw and I were very into Sauteed, last experience there left us uneasy if we’re going to back so soon. Anyone else been there recently, trying to gauge if it was a one off or not

All OU domestic shchita is together with a chassidishe hechsher and most imported IIRC

Malka was incredible. My review:

I'll admit it, with all the buzz surrounding Malka, I was hesitant. Was it just hype? Last night, I finally caved and ventured in – and let me tell you, the hype is real.

Malka's food is, simply put, delicious.  Almost every dish we tried was a knockout. The standouts? The 32oz ribeye for $85 might be the best deal in upscale dining right now. Perfectly salted and cooked, it put a $345 Wagyu steak I had recently at a certain Midtown establishment to shame (it was twice the size and four times as good!). The broccolini with horseradish aioli is a must-order – a simple dish elevated to new heights.  And the lamb hummus?  Possibly the best I've ever had, incredibly creamy with a rich, flavorful lamb topping that didn't overpower the dish.

I've also never seen short rib prepared the way it was here, with a delicate drizzle of olive oil that added an unexpected layer of flavor.  It was truly memorable.

My only real complaint? The menu. It seems to have been run through Google Translate with a sprinkle of artsy-folksy quirkiness, resulting in descriptions like "beef tartare brick. chopped by hand of a determined cook" and "5 spicy instruments that will swirl your soul."  While I appreciate a bit of personality, this felt forced and a little silly.

And a minor quibble: the green beans were a miss. Served cold (when I expected them hot), they were merely average.

But those are minor points in an otherwise stellar experience. Malka delivers on its promise of creative, flavorful food. Go, and see for yourself. Just be prepared for a menu that might make you chuckle -- and require a waiter to translate.
