was totally unimpressed with loft as well, may as well go to les marais for a lower price (hard to believe)...

IME the Loft stinks - went two weeks ago. Kosh is comparable to Prime on the Bentley, W&L in Brooklyn. It doesn't have to beat the Top 5 restaurants

I haven't been to the Loft in quite a while, but others have said the same. That's too bad as their apps and pepper crusted steak were phenomenal, though service was mediocre.

Kosh doesn't need to compete with the top 5 steakhouses in NYC, but when that's the best steakhouse in Miami you can't say that the Miami scene can compete with Chicago or LA, let alone NYC.

But your opinion on Asia and Backyard makes me question your taste buds ;)

On a side note. Just went to ETC and had one of the best experiences I've had at a Steakhouse. Great and attentive service, amazing apps which were all original. And their portions are nice size too.

what is ETC? A great place that doesn't really get talked about here (on ddf) IMO is chateau steakhouse in queens. I had a really good experience there. But it was 2 years ago and I haven't made it back since. But I definitely would want to go back

Nah, in my Mind Teaneck resteraunts fit more with Manhattan restaurants than Brooklyn restaurants.

LA speaks for itself, added a few.
Chicago has steak, sushi, burgers, rib sandwiches, and chili that are each arguably the best in the country. It's quality, not quantity.

I hear. I've never found anything in NY matching the quality of a comparable establishment in LA, but with my traveling to LA several times a year, I'm sorta tired of it all.

The good thing about Chicago is that you can cover the restaurants in a short trip. In fact, I did a trip earlier this year to Shallots (and Milt's) similar to the one you wrote about a while back.
