Went to a place recently at about 11:15 PM and the place closes at 12AM and they told me the kitchen was closed, does that sound normal to you?

Yes. Kitchen closes about 1/2 hour before restaurant. That gives patrons 1/2 hour to finish up their meal

We just got back from Mike's Bistro and I had to write this comment. I love the Loft in Brooklyn and have been saying that there's no reason to go to Manhattan for an up scale restaurant. We went to Mike's Bistro tonight with our kids from Jersey who said Manhattan is closer to them than Brooklyn. The five of us had various dishes from appetizers through dessert and I have to say I have never experienced such incredibly delicious food anywhere. Every dish was beyond perfect. The best restaurant I've been to, hands down. I still love the Loft, but nothing comes close to what we had tonight at Mike's. Expensive but delicious.

Are you referring to the sheister whose blog is based in NYC but has a residence in FL for tax purposes or the restaurant run by a known NYC sheister for the plethora of lawsuits and din torahs against him?

I was thinking the same, although Im not sure about the lettuce in a toasted sandwich, maybe sauteed onions, peppers or mushrooms...
Its also a great value at $9.50 compared to anything similar in the area.
Seems they heard our request. They updated and added option to add (purple) onions, tomatoes and banana peppers. Had one today and it was excellent!

They also added an appetizer option to the Toasted counter called the "nish nush" or something like that. Its a spicy italian sausage, cut up and grilled on the panini press, served in a small cup with a few sauces over it. They gave me one to taste, it was very good.

when I was speaking to the owner about adding toppings. He was vehemently against it. Apparently this is an authentic Israeli thing and he wants to keep it that way.
