Just cleaned up the wiki a bit. Still missing plenty of restaurants, but at least it's a start.

My son is invited out to Mike’s Bistro.  What do we advise him to order?

IMO UN is a lot better than this place and not risky at all. I definitely would recommend going to UN

I don't know how you can judge a new restaurant based on the first few weeks.

Dan - I know you raved about Abaita - food was great when I went - but they have been dealing with a big issue related to the temperature inside the restaurant when it is hot and humid outside. Open brick oven and kitchen don't work well with the recent hot/humid weather in NYC. Have a had few people mention this to me. It was really unbearable (probably over 85 degrees in the restaurant) which made for an extremely uncomfortable dining experience. I hope that they can solve their AC issue. (like my other comment on Barnea - since they just I opened I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now).

I dont know how they can charge me full price if it won't be up to par. I didn't get a discount for them being a new restaurant. I went and ate there and have every right to judge their food. Is it possible that they will get better? Sure. I even said that it could be that I'm not a sophisticated eater. But I am allowed to give my opinion.

Will be at UN Plaza Grill for first time tonight. Any must-have’s?
Also, is there nearby street parking after 7 PM?

Been to Barnea a few times and had most of their menu.

Decor & style are very impressive, so they are clearly striving to outdo other restaurants. The bar has 3 professional bar tenders and a lot of effort was put into making kosher cocktail mixes, but they cannot compete with non kosher-certified drinks. Even Ditmas was far better

With those expectations the food leaves to be desired (I think because the chef is kosher and therefore less exposed culinarily). The only notable dishes I've had were the lamb bacon and fillet de boeuf.

Service is very refined but slow. The restaurant is alive and loud.

They are planing on opening for lunch eventually after they refine the dinner service.

All in all it's a good experience and happy the bar is being raised.

Just to make a point I called. Its only for the regular burgers. Pastrami is $2 more. All other burgers are regular price.
Lesson: nothing is as it seems :)
