Don't think you are following what i'm saying

I’m not, please elaborate.  You’re assuming they don’t want CC because of the 3% fee. I’m saying they don’t want CC so they can avoid federal, NYS and NYC taxes which are greater than 3%.

Bravo Midtown's new rule.

How long until they implement this new rule in the bravo downtown :(

Don’t worry, they will reverse it after the inevitable sales tax audit.

I have seen enough similar reviews that I won't be going. I really think more people need to try La Brochette once they're already willing to drop $200+.

Le Marais updated their menu:

- It looks like there may be some new apps, but still not a single one looks appetizing to try.
- Steak, fries and salad is now $29.50
- My favorite pepper crusted steak went from $39 to $47!!
- French roast I think is a new option. $38. I tried it - it's sous vide so only comes medium. Had a nice char, but could have used more flavor. The dipping sauce wasn't too great.
- Cocktails are now on the menu itself; frozen drinks are still not.

So I went to friends and family at Wall Street grill last night. Me and the mrs had a great time (though hi class dinners are always awesome when u just pay the tip). Full disclosure I’m a relative of one of the peeps involved in the restaurant. Initial menu:

Apps: Heard and saw the sushi was great but chefs were getting hammered so we went with the marrow with oxtail confit (in jar) and beef carpaccio. Both were the best things we ate, reconfirming our belief that we gotta just always get apps instead of mains :). I never ate marrow (really just a melty fat with crazy flavor) before, even when it came with the wagyu at RC I just gave it away, but I’m happy I finally tried. And the oxtail confit was incredible, like the best helping of juicy brisket u could dream of, and putting em together on a crustini was awesome. My wife loved the carpaccio more, and I loved it too, but I had had types of it before. Still it was perfect and the mix of arugula and mushrooms and some aoli really went well together. H.Baron in Amsterdam has one with figs that my wife loved, and she still thought this flavor group was better.

Drinks: wife had the red velvet and I had the beef bourbon. Both excellent, loved the little piece of Thai beef (crispy and juicy) pinned to it and the large ice square.

Mains: wife had the gnocci with great mix of mushrooms and onions (it’s not mikes place but it’s great), I got the big 20 oz aged rib steak (with more marrow!). I rarely get big expensive steaks at restaurants based on cost/value but here I thought I’d do it for the price :) and to get a sense of their meat quality and aging flavor. Except for the ends/bone and the shmearing of marrow i added, didn’t get much of the funk from aging that I was hoping for (maybe 28 days wasn’t enough for the eye) but it was a great piece of meat and grilled to medium rare temp as requested, and I somehow finished it, which made me feel huge driving home. The mushroom medley was a great side.
Desert was this poached pear my wife loved, I could hardly touch but loved the almond ice cream type thing on the side.
Place is gorgeous they spent way too much and for too long probably but it is really nice with amazing lighting accents etc, and an upstairs outdoor area (covered now) that I can’t think of any other kosher top restaurant ever having. Will be a cigar area with trees and a lil view of the water, seems like it will be popping esp as it gets warmer. Was really surprised how warm it was when it was 30 degrees outside just with their tent.

How does it compare to RC, UN, or Barnea?

Dont know pricing so that is important. more of a cool club vibe than RC (and much smaller), with more adventurous options esp apps, but not sure yet if the straight steak is better (or what price point it will be at). I had 2 bad experiences at UN, both lunch so maybe not reflective, but im not a fan. havent been to barnea yet but hear good things.
