My wife said that she actually liked this much more than mike's (duck confit) gnocchi. :)
IMO the gnocchi is not an outstanding dish at all, the reason for the "omg out of this world" reaction is due to the rarely used ingredient: ''duck fat".
Duck fat has a very distinct taste, unlike anything else, Just DIY with store bought gnocchi and fry it in some (a lot) duck fat, add some duck fry and watch the crowd hand you michelin stars

pelleh poultry started making all kinds of duck products, your avg. corner grocery wont carry them but the big stores (that need stuff to fill their shelves up) should have them http://pellehpoultry.com/products/duck-fat/ But be prepared for the insane price

Alternatively you can get tons of duck fat when cooking duck at home, 1 duck breast can render like a whole cup of fat! can save it in the fridge for months

Just FYI the Pelleh duck sausage is fantastic.  We pan fry it with peppers or put it in our cholent sometimes.

Husband and I are planning NYC get away but bringing baby with us (well behaved 6mo old, so not walking yet). How weird/strange/inappropriate, if at all, would it be to bring him with us to Mikes bistro?

Hey y'all, I'm staying at the Park Hyatt NYC for a night at the end of May. I'm looking for recommendations for a restaurant with similarities  in pricing, portions, and menu to Fuego in Miami or the like. We just really loved our experience there.
Also any date recommendations in the city like Axe throwing? a good escape the room etc?
Thanks so much

The Top Restaurants close to Park Hyatt Are Mikes Bistro and UN Plaza Grill (though a bunch here dont like UN)

If you are willing to go downtown you have Reserve Cut which is highly rated and might be the best Kosher steakhouse in the city and the new Wall street grill which is still working out its kinks

For something a little more reasonable in price look into Le Marais which is a classic tourist steakhouse or Wolf and Lamb

I know @@yehuda would kill me if I didnt mention La Brochette in the latter group as well

I would throw in Noi Due Carne IMO its better than Mikes and Le Marais and cheaper ( closer than Reserve) and UN Plaza

Fuego is highly rated and i think @mochjas gave a good mix of whats available and nearby, its never going to be exactly alike. and if your looking for a burger joint i would recommend mocha burger(although im not the biggest fan)

Yes I guess I left out that the similar category is Wolf and Lamb & Le Marais with Wolf and lamb being the closest to Fuego IMO (meant to write that in)
