What about the viability of the marriage? If DW wants Rothschild then give DW Rothschild!  ;D ;D ;) ;)

And sell gift card on DDF...

Lol, let me rephrase. Does Rothschild even compare to RC?

Please take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt, also keep in mind I think Doma is overrated.

I was not too impressed with Rothschild. I will admit the beef cheek main course and chocolate dessert were amazing, but other than that, meh!

Keep in mind this is only my opinion, please don't send a mob for me.

I'll add some pics.

Barnea really expanded, and service went steeply downhill.

I don't recognize the place. It's that bad.

I am not amazed by RC , but definitely Rc is much better option

I was by Rothschild last week and its meh, I just wonder why people rave about it ,maybe just because it's new, we spent almost $400  , at least their steak was good , the chocolate dessert is definitely intersting

But you want a good mean you will probably end up better by reserve

Rothschild you might be disappointed

Barnea really expanded, and service went steeply downhill.

I don't recognize the place. It's that bad.

What rating would you give to a place that makes you wait 15-20 minutes for a table AND makes you wait another 15-20 minutes after being seated for anyone to give you a glance, much less even offer you some bread? Even the water guy probably took 10 minutes. Makes you wait over an hour for the main. Was time crunched and left before the dessert. I didn't see the olive oil cake on the menu btw.
I did not leave a tip, which might be a first for me.
They expanded next door and have lots of seating outside and were packed. IMHO, the food also declined to some degree. Only pro is due to covid, the seating isn't very crowded inside.

I don't want to leave a review on the review sites, because I don't want to hurt him. I hope someone who knows him, shows him this review.

In case anyone thinks I might be biased. Go back and look at my prior reviews of this place. I was raving about it. I used to rank it just above RC and MB.

I don't own a restaurant, but can't imagine what the economics looks like in a COVID environment when you are capped at 25% occupancy, especially one of the higher end restaurants in Manhattan that likely rely on expense accounts like business meetings and larger groups. While on the one hand it isn't unreasonable to expect the same level of service given the price likely hasn't changed, I am not sure that it is totally fair to compare your pre-covid experience to current environment. I think we all need to loosen our standards a bit or else these amazing restaurants likely won't survive.

I guess this board doesn't count as a review site :D

By the amount of customers there last night, it didn't seem like they are struggling right now.

Happy to hear. I guess one night makes up for loss of business from March through October  ;D

Seriously, Lox is becoming a favorite. This is the lox for 2 special, fills up 2 people with great variety for 36 total.

um, several posts here about Lox, one of my old faves back when i would go to NYC before Corona...

That looks amazing.
I can't believe I never visited there. My office (pre-covid, who knows when I'll be back) was like a 7 minute walk from there.

great classy option (but u need to go through a metal detector and go up a floor), they even added waiter service (and the prices went up from then, iirc the lox for 2 is now like 54)

lots of great stuff, their crispy garlic potatoes are great too. and my nordic (nonjewish) friend loved their cavier blinis and herring in a fur coat.
also their russian coffee cake (warmed up) is great.
